Prozac (SSRI's) decrease effect of benzos?

I remember reading somewhere that taking prozac (SSRI's in general) will decrease the effects of benzos in general. If anyone has had experience with this combo or knows anything about it please post. Thanks

Re: Prozac (SSRI's) decrease effect of benzos?

Prozac is fluoxetine

Fluoxetine has some inhibitory activity at CYP3A4, and, as a result, may reduce clearance of benzodiazepines metabolised by this enzyme (increasing the plasma concentration and reducing elimination half-life)

So: Alprazolam and diazepam concentrations may be increased by fluoxetine, resulting in increased sedation

According to MIMS: Fluoxetine and clonazepam, lorazepam, midazolam do not interact

Allright, awesome so it would just make the experience long (I wouldn't mind that at all!)
