Ecstasy & Paxil???
Hello all. I'm a newbie here, so forgive me if this question has been asked a lot. I used to take E a LOT a few years ago. I was prescribed Paxilabout two years ago and take 20mg every morning when I wake up. I was thinking of trying E again, but keep getting mixed information about it. Some say it's dangerous. Some say you feel absolutely nothing. Some say to stop taking Paxil for a week before. Unfortunately, this is out of the question. To abruptly stop taking Paxil, I would become a nervous wreck (sweating, shaking, etc). Anywho, is taking E out of the question forever??? *pouting*Are thereany of you who actually takes Paxil and has done E with decent results? ANY info at all is greatly appreciated!! THANKS~

Paxil are a SSRI. It will reduce the effect of E. How much SSRI reduce differs between them. They are perfect to use then you go down since they will protect the brain from the by some beliaved neurotoxisk effect of E.
It is higly very most likely safe to use together with E, although a waste of money. Hard to say that they are safe for 100 % sure though. We call them SSRI since they "are" selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors. But for none of SSRI on the market we dont know how they do the work. The effect are decided through study of dead brain tissue from animals and later by depression test to patients. Last year one study was published that showed some sort of effect on MAO for one SSRI, although a very weak effect. |

MDMA releases seritonen by entering through the re-uptake channels and forcing it out. Problem is once all the seritonen is depleted, there is an unusually high amount of dopamine left in the synapse (because it replenishes faster) which can also enter through the seritonen re-uptake channel but damages the neuron. Therefore, an SSRI (selective seritonen re-uptake inhibitor)slows down / prevents re-uptake and therefor reduces damage [but also theMDMA effects]. For a detailed graphic slideshow, check out: http://www.dancesafe.org/slideshow/ However, that is not to say that this info is %100 proven, some recent studies are critical of these findings: http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/mdma...oxicity3.shtml |
