My friend Carlos decided not to take the bus to his spot
My friend Carlos had been using H for a couple of years.
Carlos used to score in Paterson and Newark, NJ and the dope was good, damn good. In mid 2007, Carlos moved out to the West Coast and had to find a connection so Carlos reluctently took to the streets to find his next score. Carlos, being quite adept at street scoring and able to blend in from his background in the service scored no problem, but the dope was no longer powder, it was tar. Fast forward to a year or so of using, Carlos quits and gets on suboxone, stays on suboxone for about a year and then about 2 weeks ago, jumps on a bus, heads to his spot, meets up with his people and scores. Carlos has been scoring for the last 2 weeks and using heavily (he did not use suboxone for 36 hours before taking the tar). Carlos took his last dose on Saturday afternoon. Carlos went to his g/f's house this weekend and started getting very ill, despite taking 24 mg of suboxone (yes, yes, he took the subs when I was in full blown wdrawal but it was useless). Carlos's gf knew something was up, but he had "the flu." Carlos was up all weekend, could not sleep, RLS, no eating, and the list goes on. Carlos's gf was very upset and she knew soemthing was up, a few hours later he found her sobbing in the bathroom. Fast forward to Monday, Carlos gets back to his pad and is feeling sorta ok because the subs have been helping tremendously and seem to be working now. Carlos wants to catch the 9:30 bus so that he can go score, so he walks down to the bus stop but lets the bus ride by and walks back home. Carlos could not stop thinking about his gf sobbing in the bathroom. Have any SWIMMERS ever went to a spot and then left bc you decided it was not worth it? |

Re: My friend Carlos decided not to take the bus to his spot
well SWIM has many times started out to go get and paused, even started walking back home, changed direction..stopped,fought a mental battle and alas then rushed to the meeting place...
SWIM has also left behind girls sobbing in bedrooms and is ashamed of it..he would like to say that he now feels that these times are done with.. SUBOXONE has worked where METHADONE didnt...SWIM hopes that many many other users get a script that works for them too.. |

Re: My friend Carlos decided not to take the bus to his spot
yeah swim did this sorta stuff many times in the lead up to her quitting. she would drive to score, but chuck a u turn and head home. also her tolerance for waiting grew less and less, so if the dealer said theyd be 10 minutes, she would leave after waiting for 15.
great job btw. this is exactly how you break the cycle.

Re: My friend Carlos decided not to take the bus to his spot
After SWIMS first stint in rehab he relapsed 3 hours after leaving, he worked the rest of the weekend then on the Sunday he finished work and took his girlfriend and her mum out for a night in the bar he worked. Drunk and pissed off he had relapsed he decided he would finish off his gear that night and be done with it, you see, he thought the WD would be easy, well he was clean for 2 weeks and had only used for 2 days, boy was he wrong.
He awoke on the Monday morning in full WD's, a hangover and in a total panic, so he ran out of his flat, went to his sisters, demanded he needed her car and headed off to score. 45 minutes later he arrived at his dealers house, he had tried phoning him on the way there but had no joy, so he began banging his door, again no joy. While this was going on his girlfriend had been ringing him, begging him not to do it in floods of tears. Reluctantly SWIM started his journey home, crying and still phoning his sleeping dealer, as he fell through his front door into the arms of his girlfriend the phone rang, it was his dealer saying "sure come on down, the price is right, blah blah". SWIM crawled into bed for his 7 days of penance and never set eyes on his dealer for 8 months. |
