Drug Vigilantes told to back off

A self-styled vigilante group warning parents about drug pushers selling cocaine and ecstasy in south Belfast has been told to back off by police.

left align imagePosters have been stuck to lamp posts in the Rosetta area warning that drugs are being sold to schoolchildren as young as 12 or 13 years old.
The group calls itself Parents Against Cocaine and Ecstasy - PACE.
The posters say drugs are being doled out at pocket money prices of £1.50 to school children.
It asks parents to be vigilant and ring the police.
Police said they were aware of the posters but said they wouldn't tolerate vigilante activity.
PSNI chief superintendent Ian McCoy said: "We would caution any individual or group against taking the law into their own hands.
"Those who do may themselves commit offences and may subsequently be liable to prosecution."
Police said they were aware, both of the posters and of local residents' concerns. They appealed to anyone who knows about illegal activity to contact them.
