San Pedro vs. Peruvian Torch
SWIM has been interested in possibly trying mescaline, however they cannot decide which would be the better type of cactus to try. Obviously Peyote is highly illegal & SWIM doesn't have the resources to try it, but the two most common species appear to be San Pedro cactus & Peruvian torch. Can someone please explain the basic difference between the two, the different type of experience one can have with either? SWIM's only experience with any psychedelics drugs are shrooms & they are looking for an experience with some visuals & a nice euphoric feeling. What is recommended? Also, SWIM lives in the southwestern desert region, so generally would it be better to order from an online vendor or go searching some of the botanical stores that sell cactus? Thanks!!!

Re: San Pedro vs. Peruvian Tourch
Well, swim has never done an extraction on both and tested each, but he assumes that they would produce a similar effect. In short- they both work fine, so it doesnt really matter. Mescaline is the active drug in the cacti and it has similar effects to psilocin but swiy should look up the effects on erowid/wiki if hes curious. it doesnt really matter where swiy gets the cactus, online or in a store. they both take money. If swiy orders online swim would make sure its a reputable supplier and that its the right species. swiy could also buy dried cactus "chips". In this way swiy doesnt have to wait around for his cactus to build up mescaline. I understand that they generally have no mescaline in them when they are sold but have no confirmation of this on hand.

Re: San Pedro vs. Peruvian Tourch
People say that San pedro is more user friendly and you can control it more. While peyote and the one one are much more intense and dont feel so natural as San Pedro.

Re: San Pedro vs. Peruvian Tourch
The Torch is the most pure. It contains mescaline and little else. So the experience tends to be more lucid, more like LSD. San Pedro is more sedating. It contains quite a lot of other non-mescaline alkaloids that are very active. It’s a more relaxed experience, and not as crystal clear as the Torch experience is.
Some people prefer the laid back experience of San Pedro. SWIM prefers the Torch. It’s a more clear headed experience. San Pedro is more dreamy, and better for a lazy day type of experience. Achuma is a nice peyote like experience. In the USA, Achuma, the Torch, and San Pedro are all legal, but peyote is highly illegal. If you want a peyote like experience, Achuma is the only legal alternative. The Torch and San Pedro are much less peyote-like. |

Re: San Pedro vs. Peruvian Torch
SWiM is curious, as her friend has 30g of ground up Peruvian Torch, what is the likelihood of having a bad trip on the Torch? If it is very clear, does it often become negative?

Re: San Pedro vs. Peruvian Torch
It would be very difficult for it to go sour at 30g. For many people that's a light dose.
