Favorite Breweries...
Hello all, this is a question that comes up frequently amongst the local swim team, so I thought I'd pop it to youse guys. Specific reasons why this is SWIY favorite brewery(s) and maybe favorite brews would be nice, of course, any and all extra information is more than welcome.
The destroyer god has a few favorites, for them it really depends on the occasion, but these standby's are always appreciated.
Shiner-With over 100 years of Shiner Bock coming straight out of Shiner, Texas, who couldn't like Shiner? Shiner has succeeded in staying true to their simple, no bullshit style without selling out to the current trends in beer. They consistently release new beers that are popular with the swim team, and we all look forward to a hundred more years of dedicated Shiner drinking. Favorite beer by Shiner-Good ol' Shiner Bock (though their Hefeweizen gives it a run for its money, haven't seen it in a while)
Chimay-We know it's the most popular of the Trappiste breweries, but seriously, who can deny a chilled chalice of Grande Reserve? Unfortunately, we've little experience with Chimay's other brews, suggestions anyone?
Flying Dog-We've also never tasted a beer from Flying Dog that didn't satisfy, it's hard to pin down which of their wide variety of beers we like the best, but two that immediately jump to mind are the signature Gonzo Imperial Porter, produced exclusively in honor of the late Hunter Thompson, the original Dr. Gonzo, and the Barleywine, one of the sweetest, tastiest fermented beverages to pass through these lips.
Last, but not least, for downright crispness and tasting damn good on a hot day-ness, we put in a bid for Peroni Nastro Azurro, because no beer has ever come close to this crisp taste. We can't explain it, and we don't want to.
