What Legal Chemicals can Cause These Effects?
SWIM is wondering if anyone is aware of any chemicals that can cause the following effects:
1. Creates a sense of Euphoria 2. Causes the user to be more Energetic 3. Causes Serotonin depletion after use* [As SWIM understands these are effects which are similar to Ecstasy usage] SWIM Requires a sample of this chemical to study it's effects for a psychological experiement - It's effects will be conclusive to a major part of the experiement. Please do not suggest Methylone, for some reason SWIM is unable to acquire any, mostly because a majority of available sources have sold out. When posting, please include the chemical name, a popular brand name [If this does not contradict the forum rules] and an article which displays the known effects of the substance. If it is incompatible with Ephedrine and/or DL-Phenylalanine, please mention it. Thank you Scott added 1 Minutes and 18 Seconds later...Also, I have forgotten to mention that SWIM is aware that Serotonin Depletion is a bad side effect; regardless, the chemical *MUST* include this side effect. Mephedrone?

Re: What Legal Chemicals can Cause These Effects?
SWIM would say that is exactly what Mephedrone is like too. It is very much like a milder version of MDMA.

SWIM thinks meph is more dopaminergic though....
SWIM recommends butylone (bk-MBDB) as it will induce euphoria, is kind of rushy/speedy (so good for exerting energy), and is mainly serotonergic so you will have your depletion. |

In terms of euphoria though, no research chemical beats MDMA. And MDMA has been studied so well now its known to be pretty safe... even in terms of long term serotonin depletion, which nearly always return to normal if the drug is not abused in ridiculous amounts. |

Re: What Legal Chemicals can Cause These Effects?
after further consideration SWIM would take that back and say mephedrone is indeed mainly serotonergic however, SWIM's wiki'ing still agrees about butylone....
and methylone is mainly dopaminergic more so than being serotonergic.... SWIM would also like to note that these two neurotransmitter subsystems work "hand in hand" so to speak, and activity with one system almost always affects activity in the other. people try to simplify brain chemistry and its functions, but unfortunately it cannot be that simple

Re: What Legal Chemicals can Cause These Effects?
I would like to reinsinuate the idea that classifying a chemical as dopaminergic or seretonergenic is likely an oversimplification and that while such reductionist thinking is useful to apply the scientific method to neurochemistry; they are simply models used to interpret data in modern neurochemistry (a relatively recent field of study).
Selectivity is defined as a relative amount activity, meaning that by being selective a compound has a significantly higher activity for a specific substrate with respect to other substrates, but does not mean the activity at these other substrates is not substantial or should be ignored. There are likely white papers showing the activity of these compounds with respect to their D and 5-HT activities if one is really interested in this information, but I am not sure the average person will be able to use this as a means to decide whether or not they are interested in a particular chemical as activities do not always translate to noticeable effects. |
