Chasing the Dragon and Health Effects

SWIM has been chasing the dragon on aluminum foil for the past 5 months daily. At first a gram would last SWIM almost a week shared between his girlfriend. Now SWIM and his girlfriend share about a gram and a half a day. SWIM usually lights the foil before smoking. In the past two days swim has been a bit under the weather. SWIM feels a bit congested and feels like he kinda has a cold. When SWIM coughs up Phlegm in the morning there is sometimes a little blood in his phlegm. Has SWINY ever experienced this? SWIM is afraid to go to the doctor and hopes this just passes over.

Re: Chasing the Dragon and Health Effects

swim would recommend going to the docs, inhaling fumes is certainly going to damage the lining of the lungs.

Re: Chasing the Dragon and Health Effects

SWIY should go to the doctor immediately. Coughing up blood, even tiny amounts, is always a serious concern.

Re: Chasing the Dragon and Health Effects

The coughing up blood thing seems scary.
But SWIM's heard that, like other opiates, heroin is a strong cough suppressant. It makes you not cough up the liquid in your lungs like you normally would, causing it to build up. That makes you more susceptible to pneumonia. I'm not sure if there's anything you can do about that particular side effect.

SWIM wonders if an expectorant like guaifenesin would help with that?

Re: Chasing the Dragon and Health Effects

SWIM can totally relate to this....he gets Bronchitis frequently from smoking Heroin, he has also contracted asthma from the years of smoking...he coughs up blood during infections too but with a good dose of heavy antibiotics and try to reduce how much SWIY smoke, or cut it out totally if SWIY can until SWIY feel better, and SWIY will...but...it wont be the last time SWIY get it if SWIY continue smoking Heroin, SWIM has been using gear for nearly 13 years and gets Bronchitis about once a year but SWIM knows what to expect and just goes straight to the doc on the first signs, such as weazing when breathing or smoke feeling harsh on SWIY'r lungs, coughing and being short of breath.
SWIM's friend had to go to hospital on christmas eve with pnemonia and was in a serious condition for a week or so, she couldnt walk a few metres without coughing up phlem and being totally out of breath...it is not something SWIY want to get. Another of SWIM's friends has had pluracy (if thats how SWIY spell it??) because of smoking gear.
Make sure SWIY burn the aluminium foil properly, running the flame over the whole piece several times to ensure all nasties have been burned away, failure to do so further increases SWIY'r chances of doing SWIY'rself serious damage to SWIY'r lungs.

Imo. this is not a good solution, but swim is not a Doc

Why?
Because Codeine (and Heroin also) stops the Cleaning/ expectorate of the Lung,
all the Dirt stays inside and "can" lead to a infection!

When Swim doing CtD. he always inhale warm Menthol Mist for cleaning,
so he never get big Problems, my Cat really recommend that!

Re: Chasing the Dragon and Health Effects

Swim coughed up blood & had blood in his spit. He was scared it cancer & put off going to the doctor. The result of that was his lungs became worse to the point were he wasn't getting enough oxygen, he had pins & needles everywhere & used to stand outside to get better quality air. He was very stupid, eventually he couldn't stand it anymore & went to the doctor. It was an infection that was cured with antibiotics.
Swim damaged his lungs because he was silly. They mostly ok now after a long time of chest pain.
