SWIM was very lucky to be taken on by the services in her area only 2 weeks after a referral was made. SWIM had put off making a referral for various reasons but had been buying methadone from someone and was beginning to really get pissed with giving this person her money twice a week.
So anyway SWIM's worker knows that SWIM is an almost trained nurse and they decided between them to titrate up to a dose where SWIM no longer felt the need to inject and then SWIM was allowed to cut down as fast as she wanted with a view to getting on Suboxone. All this was in order to get clean quickly so SWIM can get on with pursuing her career as she has worked hard to achieve her degree and LOVES nursing with a passion.
The situation is this. SWIM was titrated up very quickly and is now currently on 85mls. The thing is SWIM is still using on top of her methadone. SWIM won't make excuses as to why this is happening but it just is.
SWIM used to envy people that were on a script and thought that things would be solved for her if she were able to be on a script herself. SWIM's worker is quite prepared to continue to titrate her up even further, but is this going to stop her using gear?
SWIM still feels the same as when she wasn't taking the methadone. Still feels mildly strung out if not had any gear. Is it true that when a certain level of methadone is reached one can actually say 'no' to heroin.
SWIM would find it handy to smoke some weed to give her something else but the dealer has been busted and so that is now no longer an option.
SWIM is so angry with herself as she as been given this opportunity that so many people would kill for.
Should SWIM go up further? Is there anything SWIM can do to stop injecting? SWIM though you weren't supposed to feel it when on methadone but she does.
Would appreciate some help please
