Intense Nostalgia

Here recently, SWIM has been experiencing intense nostalgia when coming down from marijuana. About 2 hours after blazing up, SWIM gets these nostalgia attacks that are so intense they sometimes have the ability to incapacitate him. From memories of riding his big wheel to fishing with his dad and even to his first playthrough of Ocarina of Time (greatest game ever). The attacks vary in strength, and depending on the particular memory, SWIM will either be filled with a Jones'in type feel or with a really disheartening feel that can bring him to tears.

SWIM used to have a buddy that he did about 70% of his smoking with, but here recently due to do some unfavorable circumstances, he has not had an opportunity to even see his buddy for a couple months. Could this variable be the culprit that triggers SWIMs intense nostalgia?

Re: Intense Nostalgia

Cannabis is still a psychedelic though it is easy to forget that it is. Perhaps smoking alone has something to do with it. Remember that set and setting is just as important as the drug when it comes to psychedelic's effects. Try not smoking alone if the nostalgia bothers SWIY. If not, the episodes are likely to go away eventually. The effects of pot also seem to change with time, again SWIM thinks because the user's mind and perspectives change with time also. What weed does to SWIM now is totally different than when SWIM as in SWIM's 20s.

Re: Intense Nostalgia

SWIM has always loved the bittersweet emotion of nostalgia. Acid and BZP (not together, *lol*) have both brought this out in her.

Re: Intense Nostalgia

Swim has gotten "nostalgia attacks" (to the point he is absorbed in his thoughts, but not as debilitating as your description), as well as intense "appreciation attacks" where Swim just feels humbled and in awe of his appreciation at a particular topic - anything from a beautiful painting, to appreciation at the infrastructure of our road-street-highway system, to, to the frailty and impermanence of life (don't fixate on the concept of death/eternity when you're high...) it just happens sometimes, Swim actually sometimes doesn't mind the feeling when it happens.

However Swim isn't trying to mentally wallow in amazement and nostalgia at certain times, and his personal favorite cure is to turn his brain off. How exactly does Swim go about doing this? Simple! The tried-and-true, time-tested brain-numbing-device: TV. Seriously, just follow Timothy Leary's advice (albeit in a sliiightly different context): turn on, tune in, and drop out

Swim isn't sure, but swim had a nostalgia attack once during several years of daily marijuana smoking. It happened when he was with his friends on a weekend in a usual setting while watching a movie. It was probably an hour or two after the smoking event. Swim had no more than normal from the normal stash, the same as his friends did.

Swim suddenly started reminiscing about different events from childhood, some involving people who were present (who swim had known since he was a child). Some were very intense, like of things swim regretted doing, and some were fond memories of days gone by. It was almost as if swim was reliving these events, as if they were happening right now. This also drifted to other odd thoughts such as seeing the world from a distance, like being able to sense everything going on everywhere and the world seeming very small.

Swim was also making odd 'hmphing' type sounds during some of the episodes. His friends looked at him weird and asked if he was ok. Swim tried to explain what was going on but they didn't understand.

Swim thought the mj might have been laced with something, but it was from the normal stash and his buddies smoked from the same stash that night. And this episode never happened again before or after.
