Other - Pill presses-where do they come from?

SWIC-S was wondering the other day where all these pill presses used to make ecstasy come from, some the stamps are extremely intricate. SWIC-S assumes the presses are professionally made as thousands and thousands of pills are made through them but SWIC-S can't see any legitamate use for a pill press with XTC or a smiley face on. Are these presses professionally manufactured?

(SWIC-S has no intrest in pressing ecstasy pills btw and isn't looking for souces to obtain one)

Google "pill press" there is a youtube video of one in action. If cowboy had the equipment(Lathe and a milling machine) and material, probably turn one out in a day or two.

The pill machines in The Netherlands comes from Eastern Europe (at least 10 years ago) were the control of those machines are more relaxed... Or the get stolen from pharmacy companies and smuggled into The Netherlands.

The pill stamps are made by people who work as an engineer somewhere and got the knowledge and tools on how to make them, and need some extra cash.

This is how it was 10 years ago not sure if its different now.

A lot of the smaller pill presses (at least in Australia's case) have been coming in from Mexico. They come in (legally - at least until recently) as Candy presses. It's rather simple to create a new die for the logos.

The larger ones are generally stolen from the pharmaceutical industry. I remember reading an article a while ago about a large pill press being stolen from a pet food factory. Apparently they can also be hand made with extreme ease.

While pill presses are increasingly "controlled", custom dies are easily available from a number of manufacturers in certain countries. No doubt they know their market. They can also be fabricated without too mcu trouble by people with the right skills. Obviously- at this level of things, $ is not really an object.
Not much different from perf plates actually- not easy to come by for the general public, but in certain circles...
