Billings man admits importing LSD

Suspicious behavior by a customer at a mailing business led to a Billings man's admission that he distributed LSD from a source in the Netherlands.

The customer, Robert Hauge, 28, pleaded guilty last week to a federal charge of possessing at least 10 grams of LSD, a hallucinogen, for distribution. A second count of trafficking Ecstasy, a stimulant, is to be dismissed at sentencing under the terms of a plea agreement. Hauge's case had been set for trial Monday.

An investigation by federal and local officers began in October 2007 after employees of PostNet, 2912 Grand Ave., reported that Hauge had visited the store almost daily in the previous two months to use the store's public computer and to mail packages to the Netherlands and other locations in the United States, court records said. Hauge minimized the screen and put his face close when he used the computer.

When Hauge left the store, the employees checked the computer's Internet history and saw Web sites related to LSD, Ecstasy, pill reports and the making of identification cards.

A month later, Hauge brought in four packages to be mailed. Investigators had a sniffing dog check eight packages, and the dog responded to Hauge's four packages. Armed with a search warrant, officers opened the packages and found $6,400 in a package to be sent to Amsterdam and LSD and Ecstasy tables in the three other packages.

Law enforcement officers obtained a search warrant for Hauge's home and found 2,300 doses of LSD and 1,600 Ecstasy tablets. Hauge told officers that he had been receiving the drugs from a source in Amsterdam for about a year.

The source would send Hauge the drugs, and he would distribute them to other customers. Hauge would mail cash back.

Hauge estimated he sent about $3,000 a month to the source and had received about 10,000 Ecstasy pills and 2,000 to 3,000 doses of LSD.

Hauge faces a minimum mandatory 10 years to life in prison and a maximum $4 million fine.

Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull set sentencing for Sept. 30. Hauge remains in custody.

What a dumbass for using a insecure computer and erasing his tracks after using one. Also using a post office service instead of using the real post office.

No kidding... but from what SWIM hears, the "mail order" illegal drug people in the Netherlands run a really tight ship. Something about the DEA knowing where one of the bigger LSD manufacturers operates...

SWIM doesn't understand how they could even think to run a site like that- It's obviously soliciting drugs, so one day or another they would obviously be caught! They weren't even being discreet.

People.

Billings LSD trafficker sentenced

A Billings man will spend 14 years in federal prison for trafficking the hallucinogen LSD.
Chief U.S. District Judge Richard Cebull Wednesday sentenced Robert Hauge, 28, who pleaded guilty to possessing at least 10 grams of LSD for distribution. The judge also imposed 10 years of supervised release. Hauge faced at least 10 years in prison.

Hauge got indicted after employees at a mailing business grew suspicous about his behavior. Employees of PostNet, 2912 Grand Ave., notified state and federal law enforcement agencies in October 2007 that Hauge visited the business almost daily in the two previous months to use the store's public computer and to mail packages to the Netherlands and other locations in the United States. He would minimize the screen and put his face close to it when he used the com-puter.

When Hauge left the store, employees checked the computer's Internet history and saw Web sites related to LSD, Ecstasy, pill reports and the making of identification cards. At one point, Hauge brought in four packages to be mailed. Investigators had a drug dog check eight packages, and the dog responded to Hauge's four packages.

After obtaining a search warrant, investigators opened the packages and found $6,400 in a package to be sent to Amsterdam and LSD and Ecstasy tablets in the three other packages.

A search of Hauge's home turned up 2,300 doses of LSD and 1,600 Ecstasy tablets. Hague told officers he had re-ceived the drugs from a source in Amsterdam for about a year.

Re: Billings man admits importing LSD

should have just gone out, shot some kids and raped an old lady or two, could've been out in 6 months (at least if he was in the UK!!)...obviously spawn of satan dealing evils such as LSD & Ecstasy - should be locked up for at least 5 life sentences (in full) then tortured a long and slow, painful death for the remaining three...... tossers!!!
Hope he doesn't suffer too much, but can't imagine a lot worse than being told you have no personal freedom for the next 14 years at the age of 28 - time for the people to rise up and take control back from the self-serving politicians and judiciary!!!!!!!!!!!
(ahem....)
what was it Ronald Reagan said.....?

'Just say no', or was that Nancy Reagan? Great advice. It's worked so well (insert sarcasm here), so far.
