Health Questions (cannabis smokers)

Hi there! Swim was just wondering if any of you know of health affects of smoking pot in large amounts. Or even a good site to look it up on.

Swim's knows someone who seems to be having some issues, and Swim isn't sure if it's possibly due to their excessive pot smoking. They are really not able to keep up with being active. They've gained a lot of weight. They've gotten lazier. And the sex life has been affected, not because of a lack of drive though.

Any words?

My friends has gotten lazier too. Too much lazy even. She's not active too, but she simply cannot gain weight, so theres no weight problem with her. But the lazyness is sooooo there...

So you have noticed it too? What about not doing things that they used to love? Like a hardcore gaming barely touching their 360.

Re: Health Questions (pot smokers)

So my friend Goobie had EVERY SINGLE ONE of those problems while she smoked excessive amounts of herb. Not to mention it caused her teeth to start decaying and hurting - which she has sense taken care of..! Weed tends to just cause all of those things, for certain people. If they like using it to get relaxed and cozy then they're probably not going to have the willpower/want to get up and be active.

I suppose it depends on the reason that the person smokes - relaxation, pain, numbing, thought-provoking, nausea, etc. Don't know if weed is THE reason for all of those side-effects but it can definitely add to the problem(s).

Maybe the friend should try cutting down for a day (say cut intake in half or don't smoke first thing in the morning) and see what type of energy they have. That'd be a good tester, eh?

Hope this post helps. That's all I got

Re: Health Questions (pot smokers)

Swim has watched their friends teeth yellow. And their sexual prowess (maybe that's the right word?) has gone way down (which makes it difficult). When the friend cuts down, or is even clean for a while, swim notices that he's a lot happier, seems to sleep better, and swim can get him to go out and do stuff more. But swim's friend doesn't see this.

Is it common for things like sex to suffer from pot use? Or for them to stop caring about stuff?

Re: Health Questions (pot smokers)

Just not caring in general really tends to be the biggest thing that pot does for my friend Goobie. It's like a numbing anecdote or something. It's not nice to live life like that but you don't really notice, because it becomes a way of life, really.

It's really hard to help anybody if they're not willing (ready) to help themselves! The best thing you can do is continue to ask the friend to hang out and let them know exactly what you feel about their problem. Don't candy coat it or anything, just be up front and honest. If you can't do this in person then write an email or letter. It may be just the thing that your friend needs.. some blunt honesty.
If they aren't ready to quit yet then you'll have to either accept it and move on, or don't accept it and move on. Also remember what's in the best interest of you though.
