Dead before getting the needle out of their arm

I mean - that's darn fast. Jack found dead at the park. Needle still in his arm. Randall - open the car door and out tumbles a dead randall, needle still in his arm. Friday morning, Russ, found dead in his apartment, needle still in his arm. Now these are just the ones THIS month.

I mean, I wouldn't have thought anything could get from the vein in your arm to your (heart or brain?) so fast that you didn't even have time to remove the needle. I mean really?!

Now, I'm trying to think of this medically - you know, think it through out loud so others might be able to figure out a way to avoid it.

So if it breathing that stops in an OD, killing a person... it seems to me the H would have to have time to go in the vein, to the brain, ACT in the brain to stop the breathing. How can all that happen so fast? It don't make sence.
