Tramadol and GABA, is this a safe combination?
Bob has been unable to find anything on a possible interaction between a GABA supplement and Tramadol on the net.
Does SWIY know if Tramadol and GABA is a safe combination? |

Re: Tramadol and GABA, is this a safe combination?
Swim has taken both together and didnt experience bad side effects but he didnt try them for prolonged periods of time. I know Gabapentin and Pregabalin are known to have moderate interactions with Tramadol. Hes combined those also and enjoyed a noticeable change in effects though they werent overly dramatic I'd suggest starting with lower doses of both if combined.
OhCasey added 4 Minutes and 55 Seconds later... Its not? Is there any info or reasoning behind you saying this? Swims dosage of tramadol was in the 50-200mg (at once) 400mg (daily) range while the gaba was taken at about 750 mg's before bed and he didnt notice anything strange. AW: Tramadol and GABA, is this a safe combination?
Tramadol is a "Janus-Faced Drug",
but to explain it all over again please use the search function, either here or via scroogle Because swims "English" is sometimes extreme horrible and will lead to misinformation! |

Re: AW: Tramadol and GABA, is this a safe combination?
Ive never heard of Janus faced drugs and nothing shows up on google that can be accessed without a medline subscription and absolutely nothing on this board except other members who have taken gabapentin and pregabalin with tramadol with no negative side effects reported. Where did you explain it the first time so I can read that thread?

I guess before "Gaba" means Stuff (like l-Tyrosin, 5-Htp., etc.) that react via the Serotonin-, Gabanerg-System, i was not doing enough research and dont know that you are talking about your Stuff! Gabapentin and Pregabalin are real Medications and not a "supplement". But there is no reason to give me bad points for that, because it harm no one and was not dangerous, we are not here to do research for you and you have absolute no Right "to demand" something! Okay? I don't see where anybody "demanded" anything of you Spucky.
I do see where you chose to answer the OP with a post that contained no useful information whatsoever. In future, should you feel that you are unable to provide the OP with the information that they are asking about, please feel free to not post in the thread. |

German speaking Forums (ich denke Du weisst!) are full of warnings about the consume of 5-Htp., l-Tyrosin and other Drugs in the same Time together with Tramadol! Because a Serotonin-Syndrome is possible, also there is a high Danger of Seizures. For us "Gaba" means Gabanerg-Substances, there is imo. absolute no reason to react like you and others ![]() We are here in a Forum with high Standard`s, but that not means we have to be free of Errors, misspelling and misinterpretations! But i am sorry, i just saw a Danger. Nothing more and nothing less! |

Re: Tramadol and GABA, is this a safe combination?
Bob has been asking elsewhere and no SWIY seems to know for sure if this is safe or not.
He'll keep looking and if he finds out weather it is safe or not he'll post it here. ~~~~~ Ok, Bob found one answer on a site that said they have the same side effects, therefore it is a bad idea. No more information than this was given. Too much GABA can give SWIY anxiety, and too much Tramadol can give SWIY a seizure. Bob would assume that it is possible a drop in GABA levels can lead to a seizure, that seems to make sense. But this is confusing to Bob because a recommended dose of GABA will increase GABA levels, while a larger dose has the opposite effect... Do SWIY see how confusing this is? Re: Tramadol and GABA, is this a safe combination?
Swim has used both together at relatively normal doses and never experienced issues plus Ive read a lot of sites that have countless tramadol interactions and Ive yet to find one with Gaba listed. This may be irrelevant but Gabapentin and pregabalin are used as for epilepsy and decrease the risk of seizures so it may be beneficial to take with each other. Just a guess though.

Re: Tramadol and GABA, is this a safe combination?
Yeah, that's what Bob was thinking. GABA is already in the brain to slow down the firing of neurons, so a small increase in it should be beneficial when taking anything that lowers the seizure threshold...
In theory. It makes sense, but any evidence is lacking right now. Crap.
