Choking on vomit = same thing as OD? and heroin Qs

Say a guy does herion. Say the guy passes out (nodds off?) and vomits. Of course he's out so chokes. (This happens often I hear.)

Now say a guy actauly dies due to choking... would you say OD was the cause of death, or would you say choking was the cause of death?

And if you guys don't mind some questions, please?

Is vomiting a normal part of doing heroin? Or does it mean you used to much?

When a guy nodds of after injecting, are they like OUT out, as in they don't know what's going on and can't feel anything? If they choked would they even know it?

When a person OD's - how do you know the difference between an OD and a regular nodd off thing?

Re: Choking on vomit = same thing as OD? and heroin Qs

Vomiting and nausea is pretty normal when using heroin at first as the body is not used to it. As the body gets more and more used to it the nausea and other effects start to dull and it rarely happens anymore. So if a hardcore junky has vomited and is asleep the have probably OD'd. This isn't to say that vomiting and choking without OD is impossible hough as this also happens to people when drunk sometimes.

When nodding a person isn't asleep. SWI are aware of things kind of when nodding. It's hard to explain but it doesn't just knock a person out like a benzo would.

You know the difference between nodding and OD because chances are they won't be breathing and their lips will turn blue. SWIY can't really miss an OD. Also a person can be awoken if nodding but this is not possible if they have OD'd. Check their breathing and airways if worried.

So if a person is just nodding, a 'normal' nod, it's like being awake but real heavy and slow and tired and not wanting to move and it's hard to move. ... But they would be able to move if they had to.

I know these are silly questions, but I sure appreciate your answering them for me.

Re: Choking on vomit = same thing as OD? and heroin Qs

Thanks OH.

And the Death certificate said OD - heroin. But they didn't look into it, they only took a blood test and called it an OD. But I have the reprots from the fire department and EMT... it said large amounts of ??? in throat. And the 911 caller said he was choking. That's why I question what was really up. Because he actualy did less H than he had done on other occations - so an OD didn't wound right.

But he had pooled blood in his lower back and was marbly in the upper body by the time the fire department and EMT's got there. The 'friend' who was 'helping' him said he was making weird noises (breathing probs) and he tried to get him up. Then he said he put him in a cold bathtub of water.

I mean, I don't know. If some one was choking, I'd clear the airway, not make them walk aound and thow them in water, ya know? And it seems like he took a long time to call for help if the blood had already settled in the body. Not only that - he took the time to take off all his clothes accept for his boxers. I mean ... why take the time to do all that if someone is dieing?

And by the time I got there to ask questions (the next morning), he had already thrown away the couch and brought in a new one. Why? Because there was vomit on it? I don't know.... things don't add up right.

I can't get the sceen to play out right in my head.

No question is silly if swiy does not know the answer. That's how swimmers learn by asking questions.

The death certificate would most likely say death from aspiration of vomit precipitated by the use of a drug. So, yeah, choking was the cause of death but the od-ing sure didn't help matters much.

Signs of overdose include: shallow breathing, pin-point pupils, clammy skin, convulsions, coma, pale face, blue lips, tongue may be discolored, or weak pulse.

Re: Choking on vomit = same thing as OD? and heroin Qs

One of the bad things about home remedies for ODing is that usually the remedy is worst than the OD. Might do that with a drunk but throwing someone in a cold tub of water is a severe shock to ones body that is already in distress from the drug.

That makes alot of sense to me. If I'm around - I'll hit 911 and start breathing for them.

It's so strange - I read here that the breathing stops and the heart is still beating. Wow. This is a wild drug to be respected. It's like electricity. Good for some things, but it's a killer.
