From a book im reading, about salvia divinorum tea
well i dont know if you'd call it tea, but this book "Secrets of the
mind altering plants of mexico" by Richard Heffern says this in it "50 or 60 leaves constitute a normal dose; they are ground up, and an aqueous infusion is prepared and then drunk. the brew is said to act much like the magic mushrooms, causing profounding altered state of conciousness for a few hours." For a few hours? i havent read anything on erowid or this forum that talked about hour long trips. has anyone tried this? the book was made in 1974 though, new things could have come up maybe, i dunno. </font></font> |

but actually if this was the case, then maybe we wouldnt have to drop so much money on the extracts, because the foilage is so much cheaper as we all know...thatd be really neat. and it kind of makes sense, i get fucked up off one hit off of 20x/bong/torch but i figure there cant be that many leaves in that one hit, so 60 leafs ingested, yeah it wouldnt be instant liek with smoke, but if it lasts longer and is more powerful...imagine what that could mean. You can also chew the leaves. Most advise about 100 leaves for this or for tea. The tea is not swallowed, but hold in the mouth, for absorbtion by the glands. |

oh hm, what kind of side effects do you think you could expect from absorbing it in your mouth that long?
how long would one need to hold a gulp of the liquid in their mouth? i dunno, it doesnt sound that neat to me anymore, i guess thats why its not the popular method, the 20x extract is just the way to go? |

Well, it would then be the same method as using a tincture, just in
tea-form. The price of tinctures aren't that cheap, compared to all other forms of Salvia. One of the cheapest prices I've found is about $35.00 for a 1/2 ounce. Depending on how intense you want your trip to be, the 'servings per bottle' can vary from about 15 to 3. Salvinorin-A is not absorbed in the stomach or esophagus, but rather the glands under the tongue, one spoonful at a time, as Alfa said. Does anyone know about how many leaves 1 oz. of Salvia has? If it's near 200, then a tea could be brewed twice from 1 oz. using only about $14.00 worth of leaves as compared to the expensive tinctures. I'd like to know more about this brew. |
