Re: Current legal status of BZP

I believe - and be aware that I am not 100% sure on this - that BZP is described in UK law as a "prescription-only medicine". It is not actually illegal to possess, but I think it is illegal to sell it off-licence or off-prescription. Which is why it's no longer found in 'legal highs'.

Whether it's even used medically in human subjects, I don't know - it was originally developed for worming cattle and horses, and AFAIK its main use is still vetinary.

Why are you interested, if I may ask? As far as (semi-)legal highs go there are much better things on the market these days, such as mephedrone.

Re: Current legal status of BZP

Don't forget paultry, that was a huge part of the de-worming research too. If you're looking for a BZP replacement try Viagra from your doctor, I don't know what the exact effects of Viagra are, but I do know it breaks down into BZP in the body . As far as legality goes, the US has banned it and because of that I wouldn't try taking it anywhere, sorry. Otherwise, if SWIY likes prison try refluxing analitical grade toluene with some pool store chlorine calcium hypochorlite mol/mol at 105degC for 2-3 hours and get off as much benzyl chloride as swiy can. then with some farm grade pip dewormer get it's base by adding NaOH then mix the two together and bingo. Try distilling swiy final product, but that's swiy choice.

Re: Current legal status of BZP

Another reason why the various pills and things don't contain bzp anymore is that the manufacturers sell internationally, so it's in their interest to maintain a legit formula everywhere. as bzp is illegal in several countries now, they've just dropped the bzp and used something else that isn't classified.

Yes, but for a long time there there was a class of drugs (Piperazines) that were completely untouchable by the authorities, not even the analogue act could touch it. *sigh*

Little known, Australia was actually the first country to ban it, nine months before the USAs emergency scheduling. And I'm sure that it's no coincidence that 6 months prior to Australias scheduling a Western Australian mans home in Perth was raided due to a large quantity of Benzyl Chloride (a precursor to speed) he ordered that had caught the authorities attention. They caught him red handed making a butt-load of BZP, 100s of kgs, and after questioning him about what he was up to and after they had run their own test, everything was given back to him and he was never arrested . All the Chem equiptment, precursors, BZP, everything! PS This is why swiy makes their own benzyl chloride .
