Stumbled across this thread on a forum for police officers about legal highs and general RC's. I appreciate that not all RC's are legal, but most of the things discussed in that thread are more to the RC side of the spectrum then legal highs, thus why I'm putting it here. The thread came complete with poll too, 70 voted yes to the question "Were you aware of this legal drug movement among todays youth?" (they had to mention youth didn't they!, I think they'll find that most RC users are generally responsible adults, but aywho)
Just interesting to see the perspective of some active law enforcers on designer drugs and legal highs. Mixed results, some still as delusional about any type of drug use (illegal or legal) being bad, evil and deadly, but some of them were verging on making some sort of sense. Odd that the ones so angry abour drug use didn't mention the two widest used legal drugs like alcohol and tobaccoo. That was left to the more level headed people. Heres the thread, its ongoing in a public google forum and the last post was posted as soon as yesterday: http://forums.officer.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=122516 Could sign up there and try to contribute. Or even invite a couple of them here to argue their point. Will be interesting to see what myopic stupour they argue them selves into before they realize that drugs don't force people to commit crimes, but the prohibition of drugs and and laws in place cause more damage and crimes than the drugs would themselves. If people were educated about the real dangers, effects addictiveness of drugs instead of being scared by false propeganda at school (which ironically leads to more people using more drugs when they suddenly realize they're not as bad as they thought, so presume all the dangers were bollocks) then we would be in a much better world. A few poignant ones being: "We'd have fewer victimless criminals clogging our prisons, the courts police and lawyers would have more time and money to deal with real crime, we'd take away the huge black profit markets from the bad guys, we'd be able to reduce the suffering caused by comtamination and overdose and we'd be able to seriously reduce the suffering caused by contamination and overdose." (Quote: "Penn and Teller What would happen if drugs were legal" Google it) And maybe by doing this we could even start to even out the (much) higher number of deaths legal drugs like tobacco and aldohol cause per n number of users than most illegal drugs abuse themselves. And eventually (in an ideal world with adequte education) all drug abuse could be replaced with resposible educated drug use. If any of the police from that thread happen to ponder over this thread, I suggest watching this breif clip from the arcihve here from an extremely popular and intellingent raconteur on this whole issue of drug phohibion and legality of drugs, who (if from the UK) you likely know. Stephen Fry. So any thoughts, and quotes from, some of above opinions and the materal in that thread welcome. Certainly interesting to see the other extremes views for a change. Thanks. Re: Police forum thread about legal drugs - interesting to see their perspective
idk man...it's kinda hard to recover from a shithead like that who hasn't completely educated themselves on the issue but feels so damn strongly they're willing to rant up against brainwashed cops like they can make a fucking difference with ZERO REFERENCES.
Gonna take some hardcore documentation to come back from that one. |

I'm getting to tired now to make any more points, feel free to check out the thread. Having read it all now it seems like the common sense approach appears to be the predominant view expressed thoughout, more so than I thought when writing the OP. Last edited by Synesthesiac; 20-06-2009 at 07:24. |

bigbob335, and dude, you could pick idiocy out of their posts ALL DAY LONG and nothing would change. At least, that's how I feel just skimming over that thread and a few others. It's extremely depressing and I'm going to go to bed and enjoy my party tommorow before I contribute any more thought to this.

Anyway, its nice to see that not ALL law-enforcement people are as delusional about drug prohibition after re-reading that thread, though even the semi level headed people could do with some good accurate education on prohibition, drugs and drug education in general. Synesthesiac added 3 Minutes and 12 Seconds later... Please take heed of this bolded bit! The last thing we need is someone just arguing and making ad homs at them. Good old hard facts is what they need, not a pointless emotive argument. Last edited by Synesthesiac; 20-06-2009 at 23:22. Reason: Automerged Doublepost |

Re: Police forum thread about legal drugs - interesting to see their perspective
It must be hard for cops to keep up with all the 'new' drugs that have come out in recent years. Even most drug users would look dumbfounded if offered any of the dozens of research chemicals out there.
Back when the main drugs were speed, LSD, cannabis and hash, things were easy. Then came coke and E, with the first legal highs. The average cop will know the basics about drugs, younger cops unless socially naive before joining the force will know a fair bit about drugs. Some obviously use and many more who don't will have a brother, an in law, uncle or someone burning the midnight lamp with the headphones on and a stash box nearby recently opened. We've had a couple of chief constables and many more high ranks stating that legalisation would help the police more than hinder. In ten years, twenty or thirty, there will be more than 50% of the top cops saying this and 90% of the ranks already having seen the reality of prohibition in their towns, schools, colleges and universities. |

Klaus; please add information about this to a new thread. I am sure many readers will find this UK research chemical raid interesting to know about.

Swim would hide his IP address joining a forum like that. TOR network good place to start.
This thread there is interesting too: http://forums.officer.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=127349 starts off so reasonable, then ends up... depressing. [edit] Yay, then it gets reasonable again! Last edited by g666d; 13-08-2009 at 05:21. Reason: update |

Re: Police forum thread about legal drugs - interesting to see their perspective
Some people really anger me, like that "Spoken" person. Just complete ignorance and naivety. Why can't the average person grasp reality and come to the understanding that alcohol is worse then most illegals? Why can't they understand that recreational use of any substance isn't the end of the world and that an addict is going to be an addict whether something is legal or not?
All this thread has done is piss me off. I want to punch some idiots in the throat. |
