guanfacine or beta-blockers?

hi

SWIm tried metoprolol for treating nervousness before presentations and such, and occasionally against minor anxiety problems in general. now, he read that guanfacine would be better suited, as it apparently has less side effects, a little nootropic effect to it, and also more benefits in general. any opinions on that? does it btter serve the needs of swim? generally, any remarks?

swim has especially a little problems with the metaprolol as he has a asthma, which is known to cause problems with beta blockers. he doesnt have severe asthma, in fact he does not notice, unless he smokes a lot and regularly. but when he takes beta blockers (which happens only every couple of weeks) it really feels like his lungs are not getting rid of the air-pollution as well as they should. nothing to worry about, but not a great feeling either.
