*BUMP* (May be a chemistry question, but my first instinct was that it pertains to purity/testing/ingestion, etc.)
'S dog made his own crank by dissolving lithium in annie ammonia and then smoked out the goods with hcl gas. There are a number of things that could go wrong with this method so he's afraid something has gone slightly wrong, but nothing terrible as the product still gets him high.
Reagents SWIM'S dog used:
-pseudoephedrine hcl extracted from Claritin-D 240mg tabs
-33-0-0 fertilizer (not 100% but upwards of 95% pure annie ammonium nitrate)
-sodium hydroxide crystals
-dry Coleman's Fuel (dried with baked epsom salts)
-clean dry lithium strips from AA Energizer lithium batteries
-5 mL distilled water to kick off reaction of lye with fertilizer (liberates ammonia gas which dissolves the lithium when it oversaturates the fuel)
-HCl gas (combined concentrated muriatic acid and NaCl)
-dry acetone for washing and distilled water for recrystallization (used oversaturation/ temperature change method)
He did an acetone wash and a recrystallization because it wasn't clear crystals; it was a white powder with a slight blueish tint. He made a glass dick and when it melts it runs from the flame like a charm and most of it melts clear, but some of it turns brown. Is he just overheating it or is this a sign of impurities? Also when it cools most of it cracks back but some of it stays a gooey yellowish-brownish mess. This he assumes to be some impurities still leftover, possibly unreduced pseudoephedrine/ overreduced crank/ loratadine that didn't get degakked all the way? What are some possible impurities and what are the dangers of smoking, eating, and insufflating said impurities?
