From Shoegaze until Post-Rock

In this Thread Spucky want to talk about old and new Bands,
the Genre is Post-Rock (like Mogwai, Gy!bE.), Shoegaze (like Spacemen3 or Slowdive),
Dream-Pop (like M83) and Ambient-Rock (like Explosions in the Sky) only!

The best effect we get with a link to MySpace, LastFm or even Youtube
to listen old and new discovered Bands.
But please take care the Copyright-Law!!!

Please remind that not all People write, listen and speak native English!
I hope as a Music-Fanatic that we all get a new Input by this Thread

I start with "From the Sky" with the new Album "Like Crystal in a World of Glass", this new Album comes with a Free Licence!

Re: From Shoegaze until Post-Rock

Nice thread.
About a year ago I suddenly realised, that post-rock became the music genre I listen to most of the time. GYBE, Sigur Ros, Explosions in the Sky etc..

as for my discoveries,
I should guide you to bands like
A Silver Mt. Zion
65daysofstatic
Do Make Say Think
Fly Pan Am
Giants
Hammock
Yndi Halda
Jakob
Pelican (heavier)
Isis (heavier)
Red Sparowes (an absolute must have)
Saxon Shore
The Evpatoria Report
This Will Destroy You
etc

Sorry but I will not be posting links to myspaces etc. Google is designed just for that cause. By the way, SWIM said he gets the nicest highs while listening to post-rock.
lovely.

Caspian-http://www.myspace.com/caspiantheband

So, today i want to recommend two great Band`s,
the first one is :French Teen Idol, sounds a little bit like Sigur Ros with Italy language
http://www.archive.org/details/nsh061
but very very nice and the second one is: Kontakte
http://www.myspace.com/kontakteuk
(this have been my Album of the Year)
Quote:
"Surging forth on a throb of sleek drum machine, Kontakte glide along a shimmering autobahn where audio technology drifts across the spectrum of retro-futurism – roaring into overdrive, pistons heaving and churning with mechanical glee." - Plan B

.."Soundtracks For Lost Road Movies" is a remarkably apt title... A cinematic trip where the landscape is awe inspiring and ecstatically ethereal. The album shows a depth of musicianship, production and song structure." - Crumbs In The Butter (Top 10 Albums 2008)

"The opening track from (the) epic instrumentalists debut album is hypnotic, ethereal and beautiful. Kontakte expertly build the atmosphere of each track, often reaching a crescendo of massive, orchestral proportions - but with guitars !" - iTunes

"The long-awaited debut album by Kontakte is finally out. Soundtracks... consists of 6 tracks and 6 remixes and lives up to the hype. In its gigantic shoegazing world of the sometimes 10 minute long instrumentals there is alot of noise and thunder; but again and again the cloudy sky opens up for moments of sheer infinite beauty. A masterpiece in concept and execution." - Bloom.de (Top 10 Albums 2008)

"... a fine-tuned instrumental blend of post-rock and shoegaze, the band itself segueing between elegant quietude and volcanic guitar-fueled intensity. The coup de grace is clearly "Two and a Half Thousand Miles" which conceivably could be titled in reference to the distance the ten-minute composition ascends as it travels heavenwards. In this slow-burning fireball, the skill and patience with which Kontakte nurtures the piece's celestial mood and sustains its dramatic quality is impressive." Textura.org

"Kontakte now offer up their fantastic debut album. Combining six tracks, and remixes of those six tracks, 'Soundtracks To Lost Road Movies' takes their motorik space-rock to new levels of excellence." - Piccadilly Records (New Avant Post Rock / Drone Record Of The Week)

"kontakte's music totally invokes the essence of the open road; as the purple dusk skyline yawns across the expansive horizon and early evening bleeds into night, this 6 track LP is the perfect accompaniment. This is a promising debut from a promising band whose 'hypnotic, textural, cinematic noise' is set to illuminate the Post-Rock night sky for some time." - Maddog Magazine

"Kontakte have begun to put my faith back in the post-rock genre just as it started to wane. They make songs and sounds with sweet melodies that swirl around your brain without becoming annoying. They know when to pick it up and change it so that the formulas make you want to tune in without turning off. People, this is really very good.' BothBarsOn.com (Top 10 Albums 2008)

"Impressively composed and delicately layered." - The Skinny

"This album consists six instrumental tracks of ethereal swirls building towards huge sonic soundscapes. Each of those tracks are repeated but this time as a re-mix by various 'guests.' The structure and delivery of the music has to be admired." - LoudHorizonMusic.com

"Kontakte's logo is a striking flickering TV screen set to static; live, it sits there behind them next to the laptop which provides their hypnotic backbeats; the pulsing, repetitive electro-drones that form their sound's foundations have that transcendental motorways-at-night feel; they succeed in building great waves of space-noise that draw you in completely and then hit you with the full power of their last track, an electro-fuzz frenzy of Longcut meets My Bloody Valentine with strobes firing either side of the stage which is gloriously exhilarating." - Manchester Music

'Fancy a gentle blast into the solar system? Let noise-gaze merchants Kontakte beam you there with ambient streams of elegant sound strobes. The band's fuzzy electric blue TV screen logo is apt, since their music sucks you in and leads you into entrancement." - GodIsInTheTvZine

"Two And A Half Thousand Miles is obscenely spacious, and is probably the music you'd hear if you lay dying in the middle of the Mojave Desert. Ghosts of Electricity drifts by calmly, interrupted now and then by a sinister hiss - this isn't always music, shifting from discernible melody to heaving fuzz with ease. It is, however, definitely worth a listen.' A New Band A Day

"(these tracks) are addictive, one after the other, although Motorik is the unchallengeable highlight - one of the most addictive tracks of the year, regardless the type of music. It's a song of frequent beauty with the characteristic circular post rock recipe (construction of melody- ignition- derailment)." - Freeze Magazine

"... a fine blend of drones and positively repetitive post-rock textures that build in to anthemic relish." - Organ Magazine
"This is deeply affecting, life-affirming magnificence. The kind of music that picks you up when you least expect it to, transporting you from ennui and doubt to evangelical rebirth : a state of grace !' - Trakmarx

"... smooth teardrops of warm post rock sounds slowly compress and collide against each other violently before sweetly saluting each other goodbye."NerdsAttack

"Kontakte make music for motorways and autobahns." - NME
Both have free Downloads (Whole CD`s)
I will be happy if someone like them like i do

Enjoy and keep on Dreaming!

AW: From Shoegaze until Post-Rock

All the new Song from Pg.Lost, a very wonderful Post-Rocko Band from Sweden!

Can be listened here on the Myspacepage: http://www.myspace.com/pglost

It`s highly recommended by my Cat, by Spucky and his Family.

"An orchestra of the heart, a playground for the long lost sporadic thoughts of giving in or getting back.
Pg.Lost is a swedish band of many directions, but most of all a band throbbing with great melancholy grinding
against the precious high hopes of not just individual human thinking and feeling,
but also contrasts within pushing the sonic boundries of endless instrumental experiments of prolonging.
Pg.Lost recently recieved a lot of press attention because of an American individual attracting a record deal
by falsely using their music as his own. But then again Pg.Lost does have a way of sounding like a deep emotion or unresolved issues,
so no wonder a fraction of us get confused, and start mistaking their music for something private."

Pg.Lost feature members from Eskju Divine and Last Days Of April and has supported bands like MONO, Khoma and Efterklang. 20th of June 2007 Pg.Lost released the "Yes I Am EP" on the Swedish label Black Star Foundation (www.blackstarfoundation.com).
29th of September Pg.Lost released their first full lenght album
"It's Not Me, It's You!".

Nice Dream-Pop with a lot of Shoegaze, nice for a litte bit of Dreaming in front of a Chimney :

Lights Out Asia formed in February 2003 when Chris Schafer and Mike Ystad (both members of Aurore Rien) decided to pursue a new,
more experimental and electronic direction in their music. The duo had written and constructed more than a dozen songs by summertime,
and thus was born 'Garmonia', Lights Out Asia's debut full-length.

With the addition of longtime friend and space-rock veteran Michael Rush on guitar,
Lights Out Asia continue to develop and hone their sound both in the studio and in live settings,
infusing the sensibilities of indie rock, moody electronics and dream pop into cinematic spaces. Lights Out Asia's second full-length is called
'Tanks and Recognizers'
and was released in 2007 on the n5MD label. Summer of 2008 saw the release of their third full-length "Eyes Like Brontide".
