Other - Prescriptions under unusual circumstances?

Swim was diagnosed with an unusual disorder six years ago that causes debilitating anxiety. Swim has been taking benzodiazepines ever since. Swim now takes 2mg of clonazepam daily. Yesterday swims car was broken into and now his pills are gone (bastards). Having experimented with abusing clonazepam before taking it correctly, swim knows withdrawls are not fun. Is it possible for psychiatrists to write prescriptions for controlled substances under these circumstances?

Diphenhydramine! Benedryl OTC ceases the more life-threatening side-effects of benzodiazepine withdrawal such as seizure, severe agitation, and hyperthermia.

Take two Benedryl (total of 50mgs.) twice daily... or as needed... and contact your psych asap!

Yes, but from everything Swiv has read, asking for replacements for stolen controlled meds can look suspicious to doctors. it may be no biggie to Swiy's pdoc, but they may be hesitant. So sorry swiy was robbed. That's just awful.

Swiv has no experience using diphenhydramine for benzo WDs, but it may be worth looking into! That is a promising idea for sure.

Good luck in getting your clonazepam replaced. Benzo withdrawl can be dangerous, so the pdoc may just write it for you. Hopefully it's no issue.

Swim walked into a local clinic the other day claiming he lost his lorazepam prescription (left it at work, gone the next day) and the doc just handed him another script . Never hurts to ask.
