Dose - extracting alkaloids from datura for safer dosage??

would it be any safer to take datura if the alkaloids present were extracted from the plant to pure alkaloids and weighed into a safer dose?

only if it was a perfect extraction with pure, separated alkaloids. The problem is you don't know the starting concentrations.

joe is guessing that swiy is talking about the concentrations of the various atropine alkaloids within the plant. taking this into consideration joe has come to the conclusion that chromatography would be the only "safe" answer. joe is very drawn in by datura but is not willing to risk his life to experience it, it remains the gamblers drug.

Right on. Some other separatory technique could work too, but nothing one could do at home, a well equipped lab is going to be needed.

So what would be the best way to extract alkaloids from Datura/Brugmansia?
If one could use a solvent, or different solvents in combination with acids and bases, could one make an extract of only pure Scopolamine?
SWIM needs to know before his friend kills himself, or worse...

Swim is crazy or really stupid one, being the curious george I started research on alkaloids and has ONCE successfully created something he thinks wont die, swim clipped all leafs from blooming plant, place in freezer bag that seals, put 1/2 bottle of 90% rubbing alcohol, and worked the bag squeezing from corner, being very careful not to pop the bag, and after 15 mins not 12 hours or 3 days, took a sewing needle and poked alittle hole in corner and drained into a pint jar with lid, Swim did the dropper onto cig's and does not recomend this to anyone but is very usful with trying to have a goodtime wild cleaning out for a P-Test.. anyways Swim knows hes wacked but had to at least get on the same page as Lady Detura is wicked but if you tickle her she plays fine.

SWIM is having a hard time understanding what SWIY is trying to say.
Did SWIY mean he froze Datura leafs in a sealed bag, added Rubbing alcohol, mixed it well by mashing it up in the bag and then filtering out the Alkaloid containing Rubbing alcohol?

And what did SWIY do? drop it into a cigarette with an eye-dropper? Doesn't smoking scopolamine destroy it before it can enter the bloodstream?


Does anySWIY else know if crushed, powdered Datura seeds and/or dried Brugmansia flowers can be extracted using Ether?
