In need of Kratom doseage advice
About a month ago, SWIM tried Kratom for the first time, but unfortunately, aside from experiencing the less than pleasing taste and what were most likely placebo effects (and minimal at that), SWIM did not experience much. Now, SWIM knows what he had was good because his friend also took the Kratom and had a positive experience, so SWIM was hoping SWIY could shed some light on the situation in order to help SWIM out with future Kratom attempts:
First off, SWIM knows the usual dose of Kratom is 2-5g, but SWIM is also a 350lbs. guy, so SWIM was curious if a higher doseage would be necessary for the desired effects to be reached? Second, SWIM was wondering what the most potent grade/highest quality of Kratom is? SWIM has heard/read that Maeng Da is the "top of the line" Kratom, but cannot say for sure that this is true. SWIM is fairly certain what he took was a midrange product (so maybe upgrading to a higher grade might help?). Third, what is the best method for consumption? SWIM just mixed the Kratom in with yogurt (his friend's idea), but SWIM is considering buying gel caps in the future. Finally, is there any way to potentiate Kratom? Thanks. |

swim is not the most experienced with kratom, but with the mention of red wine swim thought he should post his experiences.
first time swim took kratom it was 15x. it came in a small plastic container, and was white. swim for some reason belived half a gram was a good starting point. half a gram was soaked in vodka & then mixed with orange juice & consumed. swim is 160lbs. after a half an hour swim didn't feel anything so consumed the other half of the gram in the same fashion. after 15 minutes swim got a very nice body buzz & mild euphoria, but it only lasted about 30 minutes. fast forward alot of time & swim got 1gram of 54% extract. it was blackish and dry and crumbly. swim boiled water and made a tea. swim downed the tea. swim noticed right away that his mouth was numb. this numbness spread to his whole head & neck & became more of a tingling. swim decided to drink a glass of red wine while he waited for the effects to fully kick in. after a few drinks his head tingling stopped and he felt sick, and threw up. total waste. swim got 1.5 grams from same vendor, same product. except it was noticably different. still supposed to be 54% extract. but instead of being dry and crumbly it had more of a hard putty consistency. tea was made and after an hour swim didn't feel much, so swim decided to smoke some weed. after half an hour swim realized he was extremely high much more than just weed by itself. experience was good, mild hangover like effects the next day. swim decided to get 1.5 grams of ultra enhanced indo from the same vendor. tea was made. after about an hour effects started to kick in. blurred vision, trouble focusing eyes. general wasted feeling, at times trouble keeping eyes even open. there was one problem though absolutely no mood uplift or eurphoria. and after about another hour mild stomach discomfort got slowly worse, until swim seemed to be throwing up once every hour. without the mood uplift it made the effects quite unpleasant. swim had to go out and do things at this point so had to suffer through the throwing up for a couple hours. at a latter point swim smoked a very small amount of weed & felt much better, althought some of the other symptoms came back stronger. swims conclusions. strength and effects can vary widely even when getting the same product from the same vendor. always test in small steps with a new batch. swim would personally recommend starting at at the very low end and working up. for swim that would be 1 gram, if someone weighed 300lbs that might be 2 grams. soaking the kratom in alcohol seems okay, but drinking alcohol after consuming kratom seems to make swim sick and kill the effects. swim noticed a simular reaction when experimenting with poppies. weed seems to mix great with kratom & also make the effects stronger, and kill the nausea, but be careful. swim has not tested other cannibinoid smoking blends with kratom, but maybe they would have simular effects. |

If one wants definate effects from kratom SWIM always advises 0.5g of UEI (Ultra Enhanced Indo). This is a Kratom extract that works for everone SWIM knows. However this can be very habit forming so SWIM errs on the side of caution. Try it once to feel what can be achieved then maybe go back to plain leaf to experiment with SWIY doseage levels. Kratom is well known to be a very personal thing and therefor very hit and miss. SWIM knows people using 20g and get nothing, others take just a teaspoon for a nice night in.
Keep some ground ginger handy in case of nausea (1.5g will do the trick) |

Swim definitely agrees with you on the less than pleasing taste. Swim says that the first few times he tried Kratom, he ingested the crushed leaves mixed with iced tea. Swim found the taste to be absolutely horrible, but holding swim's nose seemed to help. However, it was rather unpleasant to have to ingest so much plant material and swim almost couldn't keep it down.
After trying a few methods of ingestion (mixing with peanut butter, which masked the taste but was still too much to ingest and capping, which was difficult because there was so much material it took 4 - 12 caps depending on the dose) swim decided on the following method: Prepare crushed Kratom leaves as detailed in outriderx's "How to make a Kratom Extract/Resin" thread (stickied) up until the point when swim got to the step of evaporating all of the water to leave a dried mass. Instead of evaporating ALL of the water, he evaporated MOST of the water, leaving him with a sort of "Kratom Shooter". It tasted just as nasty, but was quick and there was very little to ingest. Also, swim definitely agrees with AceOvArts suggestion of using around 1.5g of ginger for nausea. It worked wonders for swim! |
