Thinking about switching to smoking a tobacco pipe to get my nicotine fix

I have been thinking with all the new taxes being added to the price of my smokes that I might switch to smoking tobacco from a pipe. I figure if I'm smoking out of a pipe it's will be more of a production to get my smoke on unlike reaching in the old pack for a cigarett. Also it will be more ritualized and I may slow down enough to enjoy the act of smoking more. Outside the initial cost it should save me a good deal of money in the long run and I hope it will make smoking enjoyable again. I have been reading up on pipe smoking and have already picked out a pipe.

I wanted to know if any of the DFers out there smoke tobacco from a pipe? Any suggestions for a newbee? Camels are my usual brand so I'm thinking I would like the flavor of the Oriental blends since they might taste more like a camel. Can anyone suggest a good one? Also I would like to ask the other DFers what they would think about a chick with a pipe. I have never been one to care much about what others might think, my appearance most of all, but you just dont see many chicks with a pipe. I have included a pic of the pipe I want to purchase. I like it because it looks girly and doesnt look too much like a weed pipe. In case you were wondering I dont smoke weed so I do not have any smoking devices at this time.

My father, 2 brothers and I have all smoked pipes. My favorite was a Meerschaum. Now, since the taxes has went up on cigarette tobacco, pipe tobacco is making a comeback.

recently swim started smoking 4mg menthols. she is sure this is helping cut down her nicotine tolerance, and prepping herself for quitting.

she was smoking 12mg cigarettes, a packet a day. now she is smoking a little bit less than a packet a day.

she is also sick with flu, and the menthols are noticably making her feel better. another bonus, is when its 2am, if she has a cigarette down the back of the house, it doesnt STINK LIKE SHIT. in fact, it hardly even smells at all.

swim is keen to kick this disgusting habit to the curb.

I've always hated pipes, my dad smokes one and the smell makes me wretch however he swears by it and many people prefer the smell to regular fags.

If I were you I'd get a shisha and some flavoured tobacco, the stuff smells and tastes beautiful and I believe, correct me if I'm wrong, that they're not so bad for the lungs as you don't light the tobacco but heat it up with coal, kind of like vaporization could be wrong as I havn't read any studies into it.

My dad smokes a brand called "mellow virginia" not sure if this is sold in the states.

I always preferred the smell of a pipe to ciggies.

I used to like the smell of pipe tobacco when i was a kid, but i've tried pipe tobacco in a roll up (i know, i know, it was by accident) and it has to be the worst tasting rough stuff i've ever tried in my life. I can only hope for your sake that it tastes better in a pipe.

SWIM's dad used to seatbelt one in the back of his car(although it didn't last long as the charcoal burnt a hole in the seat when he braked suddenly) , so they're not that impractical. Ok they are but you could have several one in the car, one at home one in a rucksack (well maybe not that would just catch fire) infact forget the idea. You could still have one at home and smoke shisha bacci in a pipe. It's the one tobacco I have smoked and can honestly say tastes nice.
