Bongs - SWIM's first plastic home made bong

Heya

SWIM's pet iguana made a plastic bong, after watching various youtube clips (more than one to try and understand basically how it's made).
It was also very good at distracting swim's pet iguana from studying for exams.

Anyways, SWIM doesn't have any weed for her pet Iguana (not for a few days =]), and wanted to know if Cig Tobacco was good enough to use on the bong for a trial to make sure it works?

SWIM knows that glass would evidently be better, but can't quite get around to buying one atm (cost, area swim lives etc).

Of course tobacco will work for testing, anything smokable is!

lol, Swim figured it'd be alright, except after asking a friend, they said it might burn one's throat to smoke so much tobacco in one go.

Confucious say that as long as SWIY can create suction through bowl with no leaks, bong will work!

Confucious assumes bowl is made of non-flammable material as well.

Of course it's going to hurt worse, just test it, don't smoke a whole bowl of it, as yeah, it will hurt like hell! You should just be able to test the suction w/out smoking anything!
What exactly are you trying to test, that would be helpful!

Well SWIM wanted to test for leakages of air (but she did this by holding each of the holes and tryin to breathe through the mouth piece, or the carb). It felt pretty secure.
And just to see if it works since, it really is her first bong =D

EDIT:SWIM's Iguana just tried it, the sound of the bubbles makes SWIM feel so giddy lol.

It worked pretty sweet, although now SWIM think's she should put the carb a bit lower on the bottle. (almost imitating a glass bong if anything).

Cleaning the bowl out was a bit tedious though

Is that going to be a common occurance when Swim starts to use the bong more often?

SWIM used to think tabbacco hurt like a bitch out of a bong but now it's the same if not easier to toke tabbaco out of a 2 foot bong than weed. There may be a gross taste but it shouldn't be much hotter if theres water in the bong.

heya fellow smiy's.

Swim used her bong for the first time with weed tonight with her bf.

issue one: swim made the carb too low. sure she breathed in with a higher gush of air, but realised the water could easily tip out.

issue two: swim dosnt have the lungs to get a full bottle of smoke yet.

swim can gather about 5/6th of the bottle, and the rest the 2nd time.

but swim will eventually get there. thanks for the help guys n girls =]

If Swiy can't clear her bong easily than this suggestion just might fix that. Just put ice in. Fill it up to the top with ice. If you put the carb lower than the bowl the ice doesn't melt and and flood the bowl, The ecess water just flows out. Swim always covers up the holes to test it and some times use tobaco or paper for testing too (you don't have to take a full on hit or inhale any thing just to test it). You don't have to have allot of water in there for it to work good ether.

SWIM made his bowl from a wrench socket with some foil and then put a peace of tape around the whole out side to hold it on good, He found some clear tubing and super glued that to the socket and the stuck the whole thing in a 20oz Sobe Life Water bottle. sealing it off with super glue. It actualy works pretty good and isn't is cheasy is it sounds.

I have read that smoking from foil isn't any worse for your lung because to get that disiese or what ever you have to heat it to much high tempuatures than just regulur weed smoking temps. Don't take my word on it tho.

Swim also used a wrench socket thingie for the bowl but dosn't use any foil.

Yeah it works ok not to use foil but with it swim finds the hit is allot smoother because of being able to grind the herb more. If it works with out the weed getting sucked though than great. Iv heard using the screen from the bottom of a sink foset thing works good too.

Yep, well done, definitely NO aluminium! -Aluminium oxide, not very healthy.......

swim used to make bongs at/for festivals to sell. Time consuming but easy to do in the middle of a field, thereputic too;
tools required: -
- empty glass bottle (bong incomplete)
- centre punch (for tapping holes)
- 1 to 2 inch cubes of wood (dry), hex sockets, clay dug from ground (not really highly recommended as may explode due to heat/moisture/differing expansion rates from impurities in clay) (for head/burner)
- clay (waste from digging fire pit), rubber gromits, plasticine, mud (for making air tight pipe-bottle hole/join)
- tubing, preferably glass or metal
- Pipe gauze and/or pipe cleaner (for the gauze and ash lift)

'Tap' a hole into the bottle about 2/3-3/4 the way up by literally lightly tapping against the glass at one spot with the centre punch. Things can be kept as easy as possible if the punch is kept sharp.
Start tapping a hole slightly smaller than your pipe.

If you tap too hard, the botlle will crack/shear (possibly taking a finger or two with it) . Just be aware that there may be peices of flying glass, use eye protection is advised - be mindful of others too!

Take extra care tapping when the hole is neary formed and the glass becomes thin.

test for pipe/tube fit - widen hole if neccessary

Tap another hole on the opposit side about half way up (the hit hole)

place tube into hole, push to bottom of bottle with around an inch or so poking out the hole.

Push socket head (or suitable bowl - construct one from block of dry wood) onto prodruding pipe/tube and seal if necessary (don't worry about gaps, so long as you can get a pull, the gaps will soon fill with tar/resin.

You can make a gauze/ash lift from pipe cleaners. burn off all the 'fuzz' barabout an inch on one end. Coil round the bare wire like one those wicker place mats, and make a handle from the unburnt bit. The coil shold fit into your bowl. If you have pipe screen/gauze too you can combine the two and make a good gauze that you can simply lift the ash from the head/bowl.

plug any gaps between the pipe/bottle hole/join with clay, plasticine, rubber gromit, mud etc.

fill bottle with water so that when you tilt the bottle for a toke (sucking on the open bottle end) it doesn't spill out all over you, although this leaves interesting patterns/smells/thoughts for others. Also check for lighter - eyebrows clearance.
