Dose - How many hits from washing a used vial?

SWIM did have a good quality vial of LSD.

It is now nearly empty with half a drop in or so.

He is woundering how would a vial clean work and how strong is a vial clean expected to be?

If it was normal liquid swiy isn't going to wash anything extra into the last drop. If it was wash, then possibly...
Add A little high proof alcohol, shake, then drink. But don't expect the entire contents of the vial wash to be much more potent then what was left beforehand. (unless the contents had been raw or wash.)

AFOSwivy's said she would fill her empty dropper bottles with orange juice and would get decent trips off of her "leftovers." Swivy can't trip due to her SSRI, so she couldn't tell you, but her friend swore by it. She'd need more than just a few drops to get the desired effect, but she tripped off of an empty for 2 cycles of this method. She used a plastic dropper, so Swivy wonders if the plastic held on to some of the residuals that would release in to the OJ upon lots of agitation. Again, Swivy has never done this herself, but she trusts her friend's reports of this being possible. *shrug* All Swiv knows is that her freind isn't a bullshitter. Take that for whatever it's worth, I guess.

As with any solution, an equilibrium is reached between solid and liquid phases of a solute. In this case, LSD will crystalize on the surface of the vial and swishing around the liquid that is still inside will not re-dissolve any of it. You need to add more solvent (ethanol or OJ or whatever) and be prepared to have your world flipped upside down. If there is still a little bit of visible liquid inside and it was fairly potent acid, SWIM recommends you split it between atleast 2-3 people. 2 Years prior SWIM had a vial of potent honey that was empty and he brought to a certain festival in Nawlins, he filled the empty vial with OJ and shot it back into the OJ bottle ~30 times, then split with a friend the orange juice. Needless to say, entirely too much LSD was taken at this "festival" and SWIM is glad he didn't end up in jail.

SWIM recently drained two vials of their contents (high-ish potency LSD) and there is a tiny bit of liquid left as well as the residue along the sides of the inside of the glass.

SWIM is wondering, has anybody had experience with or known someone that has had experience with washing these vials?

around how many hits should you expect to get?

Some droppers (like clear eyes bottles) tend to hold quite a bit of liquid in them, so this can vary quite a bit, but I think SWIY will have the equivelent of 5-6 of the actual doses that were in the bottle left over if not much liquid is left and possible up to 10 if there's a reasonable amount of fluid in there.

If its not extremely potent stuff, you can wash a vial between 2 people and have a nice little afternoon. If it is fairly potent (100+ mics), sharing the wash between 2 people will be a very strong trip, so take caution or possibly split it between 3 people.

Some things to take into account:

SWIM has only ever washed out plastic droppers like sweet breath or visine or similar, different containers may vary results.

SWIM has washed a vial split between himself and another swimmer 3 times, 2 of which were extremely strong trips while the other one was rather mediocre... but the potency of the liquid varied as you can imagine.

It may be a good idea to get an idea of how big a "spot" on a papertowel an average sized drop will saturate. Then you can cut open a plastic container, rub the liquid onto the paper towel and estimate what is left ontop of the residue-- SWIM has seen this vary from a 1x1 splotch to a 3x3" soaking so be careful!

swims turtle will add- it will vary depending on how the vial has been used. If it is thouroughly shaken before each use there will be much less residue to reclaim then if it has been stored stationary and not shaken prior to use.

Find the volume of the inside of the bottle, a good estimate could be a cylinder or a cone shape.

Take the appropriate measurements to the nearest tenth of a milimeter, use a magnifying glass. SWIY will most likely need radius and height.

Now subtract .02cm from the radius, and .01 cm from the height, and calculate the volume again, using these new values. This is technically the length from the sides of the vial itself to the outside of the remaining LSD stuck to the vial.


Subtract the second volume from the first volume and your remaining volume will be in cubic centimeters, aka mililiters. This is the amount of LSD left in the vial.

1 drop is approximately .05 milliliters.


These numbers are VERY approximate, so do not put a big deal of faith or trust into them. Think of it as a ballpark figure to ease your curiosity.

To those saying "divide the resulting liquid between 2/3 people" :

Would it also work if one were to wash the bottle as describe, then simply drink half of it and half later? i.e. if my towel didn't have someone to split it with, could he just consume less and then the rest later?

Or would the OJ cause a rapid decomposition of the LSD requiring immediate drinking?

Would alcohol work instead? My towel has heard LSD is stable in alcohol.

If its SWIYs intention to save some of the wash for further purposes, SWIM recommends something like this:


Find a large shotglass, fill it with high strength vodka....

pull the vodka into the empty vial and then squirt it back into shot glass

repeat above step 50-100 times or until you feel confident you got it all

drink half of vodka, seal and store the rest in freezer;

But what's the purpose of going back and forward between the vial and the shot glass? Couldn't you just put a little alcohol in the vial and shake it hundreds of times, then pour the liquid out at the end?

This would seem logical, but you must understand the concept of equilibrium between solid and aqueous phases... Let me see if I can illustrate:

Say hypothetically, you had 1 gram of LSD initially in your vial (yes i know, not possible, just bear with me). So you drained all the liquid and that left a residue of say, .1 grams (number doesnt matter here, the fact that there is residue on the surface does).

Now say you add ethanol back into the vial containing .1 grams of wash, and then again you empty it back out. Assuming equilibrium is based on ratios (which it is NOT, but that is not important here), after you emptied all that ethanol out again, you will still have .01 grams of residue left. Repeated again you will have .001 and .0001 grams remaining. This is not exactly how it works and there are a shit ton of factors that will contribute to the equilibrium point between solid and solute, but by doing multiple wash cycles you ensure that almost all of the chemical is washed out. The total amount of cids left in the vial should decrease exponentially step to step.

In SWIYs case, now that I ponder it, it also seems reasonable to fill your empty vial with ethanol, squirt half of that into a cup and drink it, then use the empty vial as a storage container for the rest of it. Even after you finish with all the added ethanol, you may again try to re-rinse the vial, but don't expect it to be anything really worth your while unless you are like SWIM and have containers around that contained ~500 liq drops. Also 50-100 washes is most likely extremely excessive, but it doesnt hurt.
