Drug info - Speed against meth?

I've always imagined speed to be a drug giving you a simple, fast paced rush to keep you going. But after hearing one of my friends talk about speed and meth, he mentioned that they're practically the same.

Obviously this led me on to do my own research and find out whether or not this was actually true. However, there doesn't really seem to be much definition for the two. I've only read that speed can be another name for meth or amphetamines which really tells me absolutely nothing.

My pet carrot took speed before in a pill and got an almost unoticeable, 'speedy' rush which lasted around 10 minutes.

However after what my friend said about speed and how it compares to meth; it made mr carrot wonder about the greater possibilities of it all.

In my confusion I'm now guessing that speed is just a watered-down version of meth.

So really, what are the main differences between speed and meth?

Well speed is a street term for meth... If swiy mean amph sulphate and meth which is what swim thinks swiy mean then just compare the effects on erowid. Essentially the same but meth is much more potent.

I've read meth is twice as potent by weight as amphetamine. I have no idea how that affects the high because I don't do drugs and swim hasnt' tried meth.

Apparently, a couple meth addicts have told swim's friends that adderall is better than most of the meth around here.

Speed (Amphetamine) and Meth (Methamphetamine) are very similar apart from for a few differences; meth has a longer half-life, is more potent and some scientific papers say that they might have slightly different effect profile over neurotransmitters (greater serotoninergic action), the methyl group also makes meth more lipid soluble than speed and theoretically would lead to quicker effects when smoked or injected but the difference in SWIM experience is nowhere to be found; in fact in controlled studies subjects are unable to tell them apart which means their primary effects are pretty much identical.

Methamphetamine has a higher ratio of psychological activity to physical activity then amphetamine because methamphetamine is more lipid soluble and crosses the blood brain barrier much easier than amphetamine. In short methamphetamine has less peripheral side effects with a higher degree of psychological effects then amphetamine.

ephoretic properties , but meth is more stimulating to brain than body and has more ephoretic feelings

agrees, sulph you can feel the energy all over your body, but meth its within.
Sulph gives more rushes and makes you more edgy

If by "speed" you mean "amphetamine", then it's a weaker version of meth that could rival the effects of meth if taken in high enough doses. Meth is to the amphetamines what heroin and fentanyl are to opiates--it's at the top of the heap as far as strength goes. Add to that the fact that it's usually smoked, snorted or injected while amphetamine pills are generally taken orally and the difference is even more noticeable.

Still, they share the same basic effects. Meth is just generally stronger than plain amphetamine.

Ice generally refers to methamphetamine hydrochloride (not freebase, freebase methamphetamine is an volatile oil) that is smoked.

Ice can mean two things. Crystal methamphetamine in a very pure form. Or 4-mar. Which is an anorectic that also can cause people to stay up for days. I'm not that well informed about it. It doesnt' sound as fun as good old meth to swim though. But he's heard otherwise. It's nowhere to be found where he lives though. Pure meth isn't either.

The ferrett doesn't need to mix e and meth, poor little thing would be paralyzed. The two types of meth mentioned could be mixed.

speed is kind of a catch all for ALL amphetamines.

with street drugs it's generally used to refer to dextroamphetamine or benzedrine. (a lot of people supposedly call meth speed, but no one i've ever met has called meth speed, it's like calling cannabis reefer, just haven't heard it (usually ice, meth, glass, crank, crystal)

dextroamphetamine (dexedrine) is the isolated right-handed (DEXTROrotatory) isomer of amphetamine which reduces the overall body stimulation (energy, anxiety, jitteriness, muscle tension) while maintaining most of the central (brain) effects (motivation, focus, euphoria). dexies midnight runners!

benzedrine is racemic amphetamine, which means it has both left and right handed isomers, it was the original asthma inhaler but it was a crude treatment for ashtma. people would often take out the small benzedrine soaked "pill" inside the inhaler, drop it in their morning coffee, and have a productive buzzy day! poppin' bennies!

benzedrine became more or less obsolete with the advent of dexedrine in 1937 (yep.) as it had fewer side effects.

adderall is 50% dexedrine, 50% benzedrine with different salts.



Dexedrine and Methamphetamine are really the two "good" speed drugs, and to a lesser extent adderall (which is primarily dexedrine anyways).

Meth is stronger overall MG for MG but it also has a higher ability to stimulate serotonin pathways, which is why it has an added smoothness and euphoria and fewer body effects.

Dexedrine is still very smooth, but at dosages for comparable to euphoria to meth, it is much more speedy and edgy. and it also just doesn't have that "something special" which is caused by the serotonergic action of methamphetamine.


MDMA (ecstasy) is also speed. it is MethAmphetamine with an added MethyleneDioxy group. hence "MD-MA", the additional MD group makes MDMA very serotonergic making it subjectively a VERY different experience, but often it has comparisons to methamphetamine. it's not usually considered a traditional amphetamine despite the fact that it absolutely is.
