Any SWIMS here try L-Arginine for vein health?
SWIM noticed a lot of posts about vein health, and has been trying to remember the name of this supplement forever. SWIM's brother had a cyst in jail, and took this supplement for a couple weeks and it went away. He brought the knowledge out of the joint and passed it on to local shooters (heheh).
Fast forward to SWIM and his brother shooting like 10 grams of H a day. SWIM and his brother took L-Arginine daily, and found that the veins they shot all day would regenerate typically in a day, so only 2 veins were needed to switch back and forth from every other day. Just wondering if any other SWIM's have heard of or tried this supplement for vein health? What is L-Arginine? L-arginine is an amino acid that has numerous functions in the body. It helps the body get rid of ammonia (a waste product), is used to make compounds in the body such creatine, L-glutamate, and L-proline, and can be converted to glucose and glycogen if needed. L-arginine is used to make the nitric oxide, a compound in the body that relaxes blood vessels. Preliminary studies have found that L-arginine may help with conditions that improve when blood vessels are relaxed (called vasodilation), such as atherosclerosis, erectile dysfunction, and intermittent claudication. L-arginine is also involved in protein formation. In larger amounts, L-arginine stimulates the release of hormones growth hormone and prolactin. Why Do People Use L-Arginine? Heart disease In the body, L-arginine is used to make nitric oxide, which reduces blood vessel stiffness, increases blood flow, and improves blood vessel function. Wound healing L-arginine's possible activity in wound repair may be due to its role in the formation of L-proline, an important amino acid that is essential for the synthesis of collagen. Other Conditions L-arginine is also used for high blood pressure, migraines, sexual dysfunction in women, intermittent claudication, and interstitial cystitis. |

Re: Any SWIMS here try L-Arginine for vein health?
never heard of this but swim could sure use some.
swim's veins are shot to hell (excuse the pun) after being a junky for about 10 years (been clean for 4 years now though). regular shooting of horrable british H (cut with something so it can be smoked)has left swim with chronic veinous insuficiency and leg ulcers, damaged heart valve after endo carditus, swolen hands/feet and chronic pain to keep it breif. swim has suffered from 4 DVT,s on sperate occasions. swim only took 1/4 ounce (7 grams) a day at the height of his habit between two people and swim had reasonable tolerance (180ml a day of meth for a maintanence script) and would have thought if someone needed 10 grams a day ( ounce) the gear must have been very poor. at the hight of swims habit he took 1/16th a day at regular intervals and that was a perfect dose for him and this was much higher than most addicts needed as its £50 a day. swim did not hear of many people spending more than £60 a day unless they being ripped. 10 grams a day would kill most people. not that i dont belive you but i think its easy to exagerate on these forums. good tip aboit the l-arginine though Thanks. |

Re: Any SWIMS here try L-Arginine for vein health?
L-Arginine has a risk factor in relation to herpes simplex. Depending on the country, between 52.4% and 99% of the population is infected with Herpes Simplex. Oral herpes is cold sores and is by far the most common form of infection. Being infected does not mean one will get sick. Oral herpes manifests with outbreaks or cold sores. this is where L-arginine comes in. Taking L-Arginine without L-lysine increases the chance of outbreaks. Especially when drug use or ill health is a factor.

Re: Any SWIMS here try L-Arginine for vein health?
Is there something made for vein health that swimmers should be using then or is this the only thing anyone knows of?
Swim would really like to know what she could do for hers, although she doesn't know if anything would bring veins back after they've collapsed so she's probably out of luck either way. |
