Withdrawing questions
Before the use of H swim used oxycontin 40-120 mg/day for 3 months. He stopped the day he woke up with a horrible headache and knew he was only going to be going further down the rabbit trail if he kept using so he stopped and experienced withdrawals for about a week. The psychological aspects of the withdrawal were what messed swim up the most.
Swim then dabbled with oxycontin again here and there until swim tried H. Swim was clean from opiates for a few months before the use of H. Since then he has been using the past month, maybe month and a half. He is noticing his tolerance rising and starting to feel the withdrawals kick in when not in use. ![]() Swim knows this is the point where it's either... a) keep feeding the addiction and make things worse, or... b) stop now and face mild withdrawals Swim knows the craving will still be there and is getting ready to go on a trip and doesn't want to be withdrawing on the trip. Rabbits who are experienced, does this sound like withdrawing will be short lived as it was with oxycontin or do H withdrawals tend to last longer? Also swim remembers from oxycontin use that unless using again after around 2 months swim would get withdrawal symptoms from one time use, swim assumes H is the same? Maybe swim won't even withdrawal much since his use has not exceeded 2 months. Swim knows he will use H again but wants to keep it to an occasional thing which he believes he can do. Swim will be gone on his trip for a while so that will be good. Is there a general time frame from after swim stops to when swim starts again or vice versa that will save swim from withdrawal or starting withdrawal back up? Much Thanks |

Re: Withdrawing questions
hi mate.
the sooner swiy accepts hes in for a rough ride, and gets onto it, the better. aint no fun withdrawing on a trip. a buprenorphine taper over 7-10 days is the most comfortable bet from swims experience. if worse comes to worse, then get some promethazine for before/during the trip, its OTC drowsy hayfever medication and its been a godsend to swim in the past. also the dream of being an "occasional" user is often a very deluded one. swim understands swiy isnt ready to completely shut the door on opiates yet, but its this frame of mind that inevitably lands us all back to square one. dont be scared to close the door.
