Frontload lexapro (escitalopram)
Hi guys. Lately I've been pretty depressed some bad things have happened in my life with some friends. We won't go into that. My doc perscribed me lexapro 10mg for depression and said it would be a while for the drug to work (about 3 weeks). I was wondering if I took 20mg for the first 2 days then went down to 10mg as perscribed would it help the drug work faster. That's what people do with steroids I know. Any advice????

No. It takes the 3 week time period for your brain chemistry to adjust with the new compound you have been prescribed. Upping the dosage might actually cause a delay in the relief you are seeking. Stick with the prescribed dosage and ride the tiger. You'll be fine.

Lexapro is great, I took it for 6 months and no longer require
it. It's like the change it made on my brain chemistry was permanent (in a good way). |
