Hallucinogens and horror films

My pet ghost has been a fan of all things spooky and unsettling since he first watched the X-Files as a kid. However, as he's got older and more rational he has found that his horror film viewing experiences are lacking something. He used to get a massive buzz from being scared, genuinely shitting himself that some malevolent being was going to haunt him at night. But now he can watch pretty much anything at any time of the day or night and it doesn't really affect him.

So he had a kerayzee thought. Maybe he could try watching a horror film on acid or ketamine to try to bring back that 'fear' that he used to love so much. And if it all went a bit too scary and real, he could just put something else on or have a benzo or something.

Is this the worst idea ever? Do any SWIYs have experience of doing this? Were you able to detach yourself from the film enough that it didn't send you into a 12-hour bad trip?
