Combinations - MDMA while on prescription meds?

SWIM wants to roll and is wondering if it would be best to do so while on his meds or to not take them while on MDMA. Swim takes zoloft 50 mg and klonopin 2-4 mg/day. Also will benzos or anything else help with the comedown?

Don't do it. To SWIM's knowledge it will ether a) not work, or b) result in seratonin syndrome. Its 6 weeks or something that SWIY should be off SSRIs before taking anything that acts on the seratonin system. (MDMA, Amph, MethAmph, DXM, Mushrooms, LSD etc).

Also klonopin is a benzo.

My friend would advise the same.
As SWIY is using an SSRI there is a real risk of Serotonin Toxicity, which is at best unpleasant and can be a lot lot worse.
SWIY would be advised to research starting now and see for themselves why the advice is not to do MDMA while on SWIYs medications.
Do not stop SWIYs medications either as they will stay in the system for at the very least days and dependant on the dosage possibly weeks.

Thanks to all swiys for the advice. This is a bust because swim has been wanting to try MDMA for a long time for it's therapeutic benefits. The medication swim is on now doesn't help much with swims condition, but swim knows better than to stop taking SSRI's without doing so properly, which can take a long time.

If swiy takes mdma while taking zoloft swiy is likely to experience seratonin syndrome which can result in death. As stated swiy MUST be off zoloft for two weeks before they take mdma. Benzos are okay after the mdma has worn off as long as neither is done in excess.

Yes, it takes much longer than the two weeks mentioned earlier for the drug to be fully out of the system. MDMA can be a great tool for therapeutic uses, as SWIY likely knows, but talk to your doctor and try to explain that the drug doesn't work and that you wish to go for a therapy-driven route for dealing with the issues SWIY has. Perhaps the doctor will be receptive.

SWIM agrees, therapy can help a lot. and if you feel the meds dont help you, stop them and wait it out and see if they really dont effect you (SWIM has done that). if they dont then MDMA can really be a good thing for you, in swim's opinion. research the theraputic effects of MDMA. It was prescribed for depression till 1982 (around). weigh out how you feel about the drugs that you put in your body every single day. SWIY should try smoking instead of those drugs, works for some people.

Not per se.

Bupropion is a dopamine-norepinephrine re-uptake inhibitor. It does not increase toxicity of MDMA in the same way serotonergic agonists do, leading to serotonin syndrome. However because it is a CNS stimulant it can increase general cardiotoxicty of other CNS stimulants, resulting in a hypertensive crisis. SWIM experienced this with two cigarettes and Trycyclics, specifically nortryptaline; it's not a pleasant experience by any means.
Since it is difficult to weigh out a dose of MDMA, due to notorious impurities, SWIM would suggest not combining bupropion and MDMA (for general CNS stimulation contradictions).

Swim used to take zoloft and ecstasy and it didnt do anything noticeable to him. However swim is in now way suggesting that you try it. The klonapin shouldnt react badly with the MDMA but you might not want to take it the day you try poppin an E. Or wait until you come down then take it to help you sleep.

Swim would suggest waiting a little while before doing it, however 6 weeks seems a bit long, Swim thought it was more like 2-3 weeks. But dont take swims word for it, google or erowid this shit.

Swim used to take a low dose SSRI therapeutically while sometime using E. Also took clonazepam and even alprazolam the same day. Very pleasant hypomanic state was felt, and kept away the risk of hyperthermia... $.02 worth ... Swim always feels better with lots of "dihydrogen monoxide" mixed in.

And to clarify (importantly) swim was on a low dose SSRI, had been for a while, and so had somewhat down regulated 5HT RS's. Swim also like to get his rolling off to a controlled start. The above posts are right though, it can be like gas on a fire if done w/o respect for the chemistry goin' on up there..
