Effects - Marijuana and kicking heroin

So swim has a pretty simple question. He just quit heroin and started taking suboxone. It will be two weeks tomorrow. Swim isnt going through withdrawls anymore but he is having alot of anxiety and his stomach is messed up quite alot of the time. Would swiy think that smoking pot may help swim with these problems? When swim used to smoke weed it made him relaxed and increased his appetite. He has also seen cases where pot made people crazy. So anyswiy's out there with any thoughts on this?

Well you have kind of answered your own question. Some people feel some relief after smoking marijuana in the acute and post withdrawal phases. Some people feel sicker or less comfortable.

SWIY could try testing "on a pet squirrel" with a small amount?

Good idea. Swim is just scared because he hasnt smoked pot in a while and he doesnt want it to make the anxiety worse... Suppose if he tried a small amount just to check it out nothin too terrible could happen. It is just pot after all

SWIM completely understands; his reactions to pot are not consistent and having a bad one during withdrawals would be terrible. SWIM actually just had a similar situation where he used too many days in a row and ended up with mild-to-medium withdrawal symptoms. He only did a little, but the pot helped his irritability and made it so he could nap during the day. Hope your able to get through it as comfortable as possible - let us know how the pot turns out.

Swim says give it a try just go nice and easy and any sign of swiy being uneasy or uncomfortable stop. As dyingtomorrow stated it should help with the irritability. Good luck with everything and do tell how it goes swim might give it a shot next time he is in WD but if he has money for pot he would just end up going to dope sooooo.

Swim decided to give it a try and it actually helped quite a bit. Was able to sleep fine. Swim almost thinks that it didnt necesarrily stop the symptoms he was having but more or less made him not think about them. It just took his mind off of feeling like shit. If you cant take the pain away whats wrong with masking it right?

Cannabis does help SWIM with withdrawals from heroin but not in a physical way, just chills SWIM out a bit and stops his head from running away from him. SWIM knows of others though who would never consider smoking bud during a rattle as it enhances the ill feelings for them, also if SWIY dont smoke weed regularly anyway then it may give the person paranoia and a sense of discomfort due to the effect of the cannabis and having no tolerance for it.

swim found that marijuana helped/didnt help to varying degrees. sometimes it would tickle a little, then make her crave for heroin more, other times it would put her on her bum for a few hours.

when she weaned onto naltrexone, she was feeling sickly, and smoked a small pipe, and came good. feeling sickly and the runs was all she had to deal with on that night, so the marijuana was a godsend.

In SWIMs experience it has helped whenever SWIM has actually been sick enough or far enough away from the last shot or alternative to a shot such as Mdone etc. It sortve has just chilled SWIM out a little bit, and made the crack like addiction qualities of Heroin, and Crack for that matter subside for a little bit, usually enough for SWIM to get a little bit of rest.

marijuana was particularly good to bring on the effects of methadone or bupe straight after a dose (if consumed orally). it seemed to stablize her much quicker.

swim has also heard good things about working out, which naturally releases your daily endorphin outflow, chocolate (unknown), and chili peppers (my assumption is the burns in the stomach release endorphins). regardless, were swim hypotheticly to be in the position of opiate draw, particularly from heroin, he would probably switch to a less homeostaticly offensive drug, like hydromorphone....

Sry for double post... When swim smokes pot in an attempt to stay off H he usually is fine till the bud is gone then realizes that he still needs something else... so off to score he goes

This hasn't happened to anyone else he knows, but ever since SWIM got addicted enough to heroin to start withdrawling, he can't smoke weed at all. It used to help quite a bit, but one day it began giving him terrible panic attacks. The panic attacks are so bad he doesn't even WANT to smoke weed any more. He used to be a huge pothead before he started doing heroin.

He isn't sure if the panic attacks are related to the heroin, but they began happening a few weeks after he started using consistently, and sometimes they feel like really intense withdrawals. His skin goes from burning hot to icy cold, he gets nervous and his heartbeat increases ALOT. He feels like he's going to die when he smokes pot now.

So swim personally wouldn't do it for withdrawals, but he thinks it works for a lot of people. It helps his girlfriend quite a bit.
