Other - Hemp wick, an alternative to sparking up a bong with a gas lighter

I just came across this and it looks pretty interesting, if you don't like the taste of lighter fuel when you do bong hits, and if matches are too troublesome to use with a bong (they keep going out, burning down to your finger etc).

It's made using a hemp wick, which is mixed with bees wax. It comes in a 9 foot string of the stuff which is wrapped up in a loop around a kind of matchbox. Some pics:





Although I haven't tried it, I've googled around and it seems like there are a lot of people who swear by it, and say it makes the hit taste better and feel less harsh, and they'd never want to go back to using a lighter again.

Any experiences here? Very tempted to order some.

This is a regular facet at medical marijuana clinics in S. California. It is very popular for use with those who do not employ vaporization for delivery of their medication, as it is a healthy alternative to the inhalation of butane and other potentially carcinogenic gases.

A friend of mine- a very health conscious fellow who cannot afford a vaporizer- believes that these are a healthy, reasonable alternative to lighters and matches, though his preferred method is to heat a glass rod under high flame, and use the rod to heat his Cannabis to vaporization.

The one downside to the "beeline" is that with a strong enough inhalation, the flame can be extinguished. Other than that, and the somewhat uncertain nature of the potential byproducts of the line's combustion, this seems like a relatively safe, quality alternative to traditional methods of smoking.
