the next thing swim is going to do to help my heroin addiction is go on the methadone clinic. Swim really don't know what to expect. Swim have tried methadone in detox before. that's about it. Swim knows swim won't get dosed until swim's third appointment. swim hears good things and swim hears bad things. tell me everything you can about the clinic. thankyou! <3

the methadone itself can be a godsend, and if swiy does it right, then it will help to get back to a "normal" life. "normal"= not using heroin at this point.

the clinics themselves can be a cunt though. is swiy talking about the place where he gets the prescriptions, or the place where he doses, or both? having to be around other users can be a little detrimental to your situation at times, especially if swiy gets involved in the drug trade/use with them. the people who dose the methadone can look down their noses at you, and make you wait stupid amounts of time before they dose you. (its no fun waiting 25-30 mins for a dose of methadone when youre in withdrawals).

The FOAF who is asking about what to expect is located in the U.S., yes? If SWIM is correct in this assumption, the above two links would be a start. As far as what to expect, all MMT clinics are different but by law are required to follow the same guidelines.
