Addiction - How to tell loved ones that swiy are back on heroin

K well anyone looking at this must be an adult so for some it may not be parents but a significant other friend etc.. but for swim he wants to tell his parents that he is addicted to heroin. THey have become suspicious since he moved back in recently, and even found needles but have yet to put 2 and 2 together. He wants to let then know how it has gotten so bad and his habit is beyond his control, how he is sick of the lying and stealing and sneaking off to get high. Does anyone have suggestions about the best way for swim to do this. There is a chance that he will be sent packing and this is what he really wants to aviod. Should he drop hints or just comeout with it? He is a grown man and they treat him as such, he just knows he can't stop on his own and wants help without scaring them off. PLease help any posts are appreciated !!
