Introducing Reed Canary Grass - invasive?
SWIM wants to know if introducing reed canary grass to a new area (alongside a creek) will be invasive and/or destructive to the native plant populations. Can this be easily controlled, or should the grass be grown in a controlled landscape?

Re: Introducing Reed Canary Grass - invasive?
Yes, it almost certainly will be. Phalaris species are highly invasive, and form dense, single-species stands that aggressively drive out native populations. Please do not introduce this species in areas in which it is not yet established.
