Drug info - MDMA seperating whilst in a coffee jar?

SWIM has some MDMA that they wanted to take with them on a weekend away, but as they were passing through a station well known for its frequent sniffer dog searches, put the baggy inside a jar of coffee in their case (SWIM heard that the coffee covers the smell so the dogs can't detect this, but isn't sure if it is actually true!).
After removing the baggie, it seemed that the MDMA had seperated had in the top were red coloured ganules and brown on the bottom. After removing it from the coffee jar for a while it seemed they mixed back together.
SWIM said that it still did the job although maybe took longer than usual to take effect, though admits that could be due to many things. Any ideas what this is as SWIM has never heard of this before
