Help with alcoholism

Swim is an alcoholic and he knows he is an alcoholic. Swim even drinks Vodka when he wakes up. Swim used to drink 151 of Bacardi Rum, until he got a bleeding ulcer and he was throwing up blood for two days and he still had extreme stomach pains the third day. Swim still drinks, but he only drink s 80 proof Vodka and he does not get drunk any more, since he finally graduated from the Entertainment Arts. Swim doesn’t drink as much anymore, because he is not under strees since he is finally a graduate at the leading Art College in America.
Swim is still an alcoholic even though he doesn’t get drunk no more and since he switched from 151 proof rum to 80 proofs Vodka. Swim is still an alcoholic and he knows it. Swim also is drinking on legal prescriptions, like Adderall XR for ADHD and Klonopin to counteract the side effects of Adderall XR. Swim has arthritis and its bad arthritis, so legally a medical DR is prescribing him Darvocet when he could get a Cortisone shots 4 times a year in the area of pain instead of Darvocet.
Swim knows that drinking on legal meds is dangerous and it might even kill him and he know it. Swim knows he has to take meds, but drinking on meds may even kill Swim and he knows it. Should swim go back to Alcoholics Anonymous first or go directly to a rehab, because swim has quit drinking of months at a time many times, like 4 months at a time, but he keeps going back to booze? What should swim do? I wish I did not have to use Swim or Swiy, but that is the rules. Swim has been told by a college counselor that the counselor did not think that he was physically addicted to booze.
By the way swims last semester in college that he told me that he had passed out while animating twice, and woke up on the floor with the alarm going off, and the second time he collapsed he ended up with a cut on his face and he found his blood on the carpet floor. Swim had to buy a new computer desk, because the second collapse damaged his computer desk, so he had to buy a new one. Please any advice for swim will be gratfull to hear any advice on what he needs to hear. Swim never got in legal trouble for drinking, but swim is seriously thing about pouring all booze down the sink and go back to AA, because AA has worked for him in the past, and he has not talked to one of his AA sponsors for a long time.
You may call me sponge and what do you think swim should do?
