Are there nootropics to increase NeuroGlia growth, that do not cause cancer?
As described in this article, several anti-carcinogenic drugs decrease glia growth.
Glial cells, commonly called neuroglia or simply glia, are non-neuronal cells that provide support and nutrition, maintain homeostasis, form myelin, and participate in signal transmission in the nervous system. Studies have suggested an increased number of Glial cells in Einstein's brain. Einstein's brain had more glial cells relative to neurons in all areas studied, but only in the left inferior parietal area was the difference statistically significant. This area is part of the association cortex, regions of the brain responsible for incorporating and synthesizing information from multiple other brain regions.
So it seems to me that increasing the number of Glial cells would be an interesting quality for a nootropic, if carcinogenicity can be avoided. Does anyone have ideas and information on this subject?
