SWIM and his poor dog
SWIM's dog is about 13 years old and in pain from hip problems, she's always unhappy because of it. SWIM heard that blowing hits in a dogs ear would get the dog stoned so he tried. He blew 3 hits into his dogs ear gently. She normally doesn't like SWIM messing with her Evan giving food but she stood very still when he was blowing the hits in. She normally would pull her head away if SWIM ware to get in her face like that. After about 10 mineuts his dog just past out.and 5 mins after that she walked around the house and found a spot to lie down...She doesnt seemed very stoned, does she need more?
If she was human she would probably be taking pain killers or medical Muriguana but just because she's a dog she hast to suffer?. SWIM feels like it is his duty to get his dog stoned, happy and pain releaved by blowing hits in her ears. He thinks that if shes not fighting it, she's probably ok with it. What do you think about this and do you think his dog needs more than 3 ear hits? |

Re: SWIM and his poor dog
Sorry to hear the pooch has hip problems and pain as a result. My dog has joint problems as well and I give her Metacam (meloxicam), which is prescribed by the veterinarian, made for use in animals and really seems to work well for her. I just give it to her as needed.
I hope SWIY considers taking a similar route for his/her dog's pain management. Dogs can be extremely allergy prone, and with the number of pollutants in marijuana smoke combined with the physical affect it has in the heart and respiratory system, SWIY may actually do his/her pup more harm than good. Best wishes for a speedy recovery

Re: SWIM and his poor dog
You ought to take your dog to a vet, not experiment by blowing smoke into its ear.
In the UK, this would be taken quite seriously by the authorities. Swim has a sick pet and swim will seek vets advice. What your doing is actually wrong. |

Re: SWIM and his poor dog
Yes, your dog needs to be on a prescrition medication.
Self-Prescription is ok (although SWIM wouldnt recomend it), as its SWIY's life he is playing with. Don't prescribe anything to anyone else unless you are a certified profesional. Seriously, SWIY needs to stop trying to get his dog stoned, it could damage the pooch, and you dont want that. It is SWIY's responsibility to look after his dog, but do that by taking it to the vet, and getting it medication. If it is in that much pain, and vetenarians wont prescribe meds, then the best thing SWIY can do for his dog is to have it put down, as sad as that may be. |

Re: SWIM and his poor dog
her doctor said just give ibuprofen if she's having problems and then SWIM was like you bout some Marijuana?.jk You can't take ibuprofen every day and it barely works. how does swim know if his dog self-prescribes her self to mj? He can't even make her walk over to food and she wants that. I'll tell swim about that Meloxicam, maybe her doctor would prescribe that to her.

Re: SWIM and his poor dog
Hmmm. I wonder what kind of doctor would recommend giving a dog ibuprofen as it is extremely harmful to pets. Perhaps I am not reading this thread for what it really is? A quick search on medications such as ibuprofen, acetaminophen, etc will provide a substantial amount of information about the topic.
I do not wish project any harsh criticism here because it's great to ask questions and find the answers. I really believe though, that a person has the ability to choose what they put into their body whereas a pet does not. Pets rely on their caretakers to make the best possible choices for them, so please reconsider the ibuprofen approach

Re: SWIM and his poor dog
SWIM has always tried to be as open minded as possible regarding anything that they've ever come across but how can SWIY possibly sit there and logically conclude to themselves that blowing smoke in their dogs ear is going to help relieve it of hip pain ?????????
That just really does sound like an absolute load of shite and if your thinking that swim is over-reacting then take a moment and say out loud to yourself "Blowing cannabis smoke in a dogs ear will relieve it of hip pains" and then see how ridiculous it sounds. Swim understands that in swiy is concerned about their pooch and wants to relieve the pain but I can assure you thats not the way to do it. And as Bringo pointed out, any vet that would recommend ibuprofen for a canine definately needs to be questioned. the internet will offer a vast database of knowledge on how you can ease your dogs pain in many ways that don't involve weed and ears. More TLC than THC I think may be the key Swim does not mean to come across as just being harsh but the thought people doing this to animals just on hearsay really annoys swim. Re: SWIM and his poor dog
Blowing smoke in a pets face is going to be bad for it, for it's lungs especially and if it's old that's probably not a good thing.
I hope this doesn't come across as flaming, but how in the hell did you think blowing it in the poor dogs ear would even get it high, it's physiologically impossible to say the least. If vets meds aren't working and you're intent on trying cannabis, SWIY could always grind a small, and I mean SMALL amount of kief into the dogs food, certainly if you're worried about the meds doing your dogs organs damage than cannabis could be a safer option, I'm not saying it's right to get your dog high. But certainly cannabis will do alot less damage to it than say ibobrufen. So if you try a very small amount, and your dog seems to have noticeable relief than It's not too bad. But seriously don't blow bong hits in your dogs face for fucks sake. |

Re: SWIM and his poor dog
Hope the pooch got some better meds...
Get another vet, this one is a quack. Ibuprofen is toxic to dogs and will cause stomach ulcers, which with continuous use will cause bleeding and death. Possibly aspirin was recommend? With caution? Because aspirin is toxic in large quantities too. |

Re: SWIM and his poor dog
Hope the dog has seen a vet.
Don't get mixed up either. I mean a veterinary doctor, not some poor local dude who was in the Nam, or Iraq and Afghanistan. |

Re: SWIM and his poor dog
How high must SWIY be to think that blowing smoke into a dogs EAR will somehow bring it pain relief?
