Australia-NZ Customs, Police Info sharing

Swim was busted 5 yrs ago on a class C drug importation charge in NZ. However trumped up the charge may have been Swim plead guilty paid huge fine and bolted, never to return. Well now Swim would like to go to Brisbane, Australia to visit some old friends in a certain Bike Club to discuss business. The question is; Do NZ and Australia access each others databases automatically bringing up a flag on an arriving passenger's passport details?? This could be a problem so if anyone can help it would do Swim a world of good just to know what top expect.

Re: Australia-NZ Customs, Police Info sharing

Yes Austraila is a strict country and they all have record in database. The custom is based on honesty and you better admit you've been charged in the history there b4. If you just been charged in NZ and this time you come to OZ not fm NZ customs should be fine. They are different country thou.

But make sure you are clean when you get in this time or you will get big trouble coz this is not the 1st time you get here. No excuse.

Hope this can help. Good luck.

Re: Australia-NZ Customs, Police Info sharing

SWIM also got into trouble entering new zealand as he was carrying a metal shisha pipe he got from India that happened to have small amounts of hash resin left in the burning bowl.

SWIM wasn't charged formally, but did have the item confiscated and received a letter telling him that he was no longer entitled to visa free entry to NZ or OZ, and would have to apply at his embassy if he wanted to come back.

This makes SWIM think that Oz & NZ definitely share details, particularly considering OZ & Nz citizens have mutual rights of citizenship.

Re: Australia-NZ Customs, Police Info sharing

Aus and Nz customs cant be linked when you show your passport, swim declares himself each time just to be safe (lives in nz, with criminal history), brisbane airport took over 2 hours to get in touch with the nz customs (or nzpd not sure) to have swims files sent over and it was so painfully slow,
Sydney airport same drama, 2 hours waiting for swims files to be sent through but only because swim declared he had a record on that inflight ticket ya full out. when they scanned swims passport it was no deal untill they read the ticket swim fulled out,

swim doesnt think they are linked at all, but make whatever you desire out of this, just wanted to share swims experiances in this.
