Making Absinthe
Hi ! I'm planing to make homemade absinth. My problem is that I don't know how I could distillate several liters at once. I was thinking about using a pressure cooker as the "boiler" with a pvc tube on the top. The pvc tube would go spiraling into the fridge as the "refrigerant/cooling device" (condensating the vapours). But I'm not sure this would be a very practical way to go, and other problem: there is no "separation column" in this device. 1) Is the separation column absolutely necessary to make liquors? (or would only a boiler+refrigerating device be efficient) 2) Also, anyone has any idea about how I could keep the boiling temperature at 80°C ? (80° is the alcohol boiling point, but if I heat too much, then at 100°C the water will be also evapourated with the alcohol which I don't want).Edited by: genaro |
