Injecting Coke - Medical Attention
Hello All,
SWIM has been injecting for about 7 days, both C & H. SWIM has been smoking H for about 1 year straight with no extended breaks. SWIM started injecting because his lungs couldn't take the tar (they only have tar in Cali where SWI-Him lives) from smoking.
A couple nights ago SWIM was pushing in a shot of C. After loosening the tourniquet a little bit, he pushed in a quarter of the shot, then stopped to completely loosen it. Apparently the needle slipped out of the vein. Because C numbs the area, SWIM did not know he was not in the vein and pushed the shot in. For 36 hours there was a very large, spherical, HARD, bump about where he had missed. It's been a little over 48 hours now and it's decreased in size by about 50%. It's still about an inch in diameter, and now SWIM cannot get that vein to pop out anymore. (He can't see or feel it - the one in the crook of his elbow.) SWIM would like to know if and when he should get medical attention. SWIM's friends tell him that its "just a missed shot" and that it will eventually go away, and not to worry about it. However SWIM's friends are not extremely reliable sources, if you catch SWIM's drift. SWIM's missed shots before and never had a bump this large and this hard appear for this long.
SWIM's learned his lesson now and knows to completely loosen the tourniquet, RE-REGISTER, and then begin the shot. However he would still like to know your opinion if he should seek medical attention or not?
