Hi,
I've read some really useful posts through this forum. I do have some questions about what drugs are in our society, do they help people with their society status? Are most people using drugs? Why do people cough or touch their noses? I am asking these questions as I'm feeling on the outside of society in that I don't always understand the games that people play or what people are saying to me. Could this be because they have extra enhancements? I really need to try and find some answers as this is affecting my every day life.
If you have any thoughts, please post back.
A state of relaxation is needed to understand social interactions, to me you seem to be saying you have difficulty understanding subtle communication? well thats something that is dependent on how ready you are to accept what you see and also how well you respond to it. Both of these require a more centred state of mind...I guess I'm saying its something that everyone needs to develop in their own time and part of the spiritual journey just as much as the physical one
The use of Mind Altering chemicals (drugs) has been and is currently very apparent in today's society. Common misconception by the ignorant masses has unfortunately created a uniform outlook of negativity directed towards these substances. As the user becomes more familiar with these chemicals both the positive and negative effects become very apparent and the truths about their effects emerge. With this knowledge comes the inevitable broadening of knowledge to the enormous variety of drugs, creating classes within classes. This response is meant to cover the general groups.
Depressants- This is by far the most common form of drug used and it's most familiar and popular form is Alcohol. Effects are common knowledge and these drugs are used mainly as a coping mechanism in ones life. Although (for alcohol) a couple drinks a day does raise HDL levels while lowering LDL levels excessive use is extremely debilitating and harmful. Other forms of depressants can be even more harmful then alcohol, and others less.
On a personal note my experience with these users has given me the conclusion that they are, in short, a detriment to our society. While not under the intoxicating effects the users may live productive lives but while under the effects they tend to put themselves, and very often others, in unnecessarily risky situations. On the other side, depressants like tranquilizers, if anything remove the drive experienced by clean individuals.
Stimulants- These include drugs that are regularly given to our children, such a Ritalin and Caffeine. Other forms include Speed, Cocaine, diet pills, and even Methamphetamine (psychostimulant). Since (some of) these drugs are used commonly to combate ADD and ADHD it should be assumed they have positive qualities that can be harnessed. But recently there has been an inlflux of younger children abusing these prescriptions due to the massive increase in children with ADD (which I think is BS). These drugs are often used to accomplish things as they raise your perception and activity levels, making work seem not only easier but nearly automated. Colleges have became familiar with the abuse of Ritalin and it's generic compounds begin abused as a "study drug" and users of diet pills (and speed) often go on cleaning rampages just because they need to work.
On a personal note- Stimulants can be positive and negative in effects. While health effects will always remain negative they do help accompish things, even if they don't let you sleep. Notice I did not mention Methamphetamine. This is because this particular drug is very complicated and in my opinion absolutely Evil. In a free world this substance should hold the death penalty. For those who do not know what it does, Meth triggers the natural Fight or Flight reflex, which is only supposed to be used in situations of EXTREME stress such as LIFE OR DEATH. Putting the body in such a heightened sense or awareness will break the body down faster then you can imagine. There is NO PLAUSABLE REASON for ANYONE to use this substance. All users, I can confidently say, are irresponsible and a threat to the rest of society. If you are going to kill yourself, use a gun, not Meth.
Opiates/ Opioids- This classification inclues famous opiates like opium (obviously), Heroin, and Morphine. Opioids include drugs like Methadone. These drugs produce a state of euphoria that is extremely addicting and leads to many destroyed lives. The health detriments are extreme and constant use will result in death. These are used similarly to depressants as coping mechanisms but the user can become lost within themselves, losing all motivation to move while on a heavy dose.
Hallucinogens- This classification includes the infimous and overblown drug LSD, mushrooms, DMT, and many others. These produce a change in conciousness. An altered state of reality. The "highs" are not based on feel-good chemicals flooding the brain but are based on the individuals disposition towards the substance. Commonly known in the drug world are the occurances of both "bad" and "good" trips. They are experienced only because that is how the user chose to experience it. (Many users have too little experience and cannot control their trip and inevitably create a bad one, but all bad trips can be avoided). These drugs play the role of Teacher in a society that has forgotten their roots. The drugs teach life lessons, promotes simple and better lifestyles, uncovers lies given to us by authority, and helps us reach self-actualization. Certain drugs, such as DMT, have been claimed to have healing properties that have been used by shamans throughout their history. These drugs can permanently alter the brain but besides that have very few health detriments.
Marijuana- The best classification I have heard came from my High School Psychology teacher. Her definition of marijuana was that it was an enhancer. That in basically enhances all 5 senses which leads to occurences such as the "munchies". Uses for this drug are as varietable as can be imagined. Mostly used to pass time, the drugs has uses in reducing many physical ailments, such as nausea, and can even help promote a healthier lifestyle. (A college student who smokes marijuana so he can eat more, workout more, and study more. Yes this is true.) Although not good for an individual, the drugs negative effects have been grossly inflated.
Drug Society
Drugs are commonly known to be illegal. So it is very likely that the entire world of drugs you see and can't understand has bee created to keep secrecy. Nobody wants to go to jail so people have to adapt in order to keep the cycle going.
I do not mean to give any false information or insult any users. This is mearly my opinion gained through years of interactions with this "underground" world.
