Unhappy permanent damage from diphenhydramine use?

So first of all lets get a little background info. SWIM took around 350mg of DPH in addition to 350mg of DXM because he read of people taking them together. Little did he know that would be a horrible decision. Not only did the DPH eliminate all of the positive feelings DXM provides, but he feels that he did permanent damage to his body. During the 'trip' he had very real feelings that he was going to have a heart attack and die. He experienced all of the warning signs repeatedly and was seriously worried about dying. Somehow, he managed to ignore this and make it to sleep. The next morning he wakes up to feel the same feelings again. Now it has been about a week since he did this and he continues to feel a constant uncomfortable tightness and sick feeling in his chest/stomach. He can't help but think he did some permanent damage to his body.. Do any of you know of any similar stories or advice on what to do to get rid of this??

Re: permanent damage?

I'm thinking it's likely paranoia associated with the high cardiac load which the recreational combo created.

Best Answer: go to the doctor for a heart checkup preemptively.

Re: permanent damage?

Brain is hardwired. Long time ago (when SWIM have no fear and no judgement) , a high dose datura's trip (Two bag seeds (that it was in SWIM range of options beside weed by the time)) lend to a strong bizarre trip, the first 8 hours insanely disconnected from the consensus reality, and four days to baseline. Mouth and skin was irritating dried, felling very sick and overheated. Walked scrambling in doors and objects and having blackouts. Had passed months to understand what the shit have done(thinking if I will return for normal life, but the only problem is too much worry about it). Later I repeated that bullshit experience and happen similar things, but become aware of how unconscious mind would drive SWIM, with no judgment. And SWIM´s illusions in real world became disgusting apparent in the trip. Besides that a instrument rating was obtained later, wires still functioning!! . The fear of death is classic in some bad trips, the person is absolutely certain that will die, until the effects diminish and calm down.

Re: permanent damage?

SWIM's heard hurt for a good two-three days after DXM.

SWIM once went close to serotonin storm, and his brain hurt, noticeable for a good month. Went away now... the world will never know :P

SWIY suggests you check a thread in this forum about "Dangers of DXM"; you should be fine, but its always nice to know what not to do ever again lol.

Peace, good luck.

Re: permanent damage from diphenhydramine use?

Weird coincidence, but I was just going through some threads looking for info on serotonin syndrome/storm. SWIM thinks they may have experienced this after a dxm/dph session. Completely horrible experience they told me but is there a combination of substaces which is most likely to trigger serotonin storm? Is dph/dxm a particularly bad idea? Keep up the good work, I'm always learning something on this site!

Re: permanent damage from diphenhydramine use?

There's no chance for serotonin syndrome given the circumstances outlined above. Those legal drugs tend to have awful side effects when taken at recreational doses, especially the anti-cholinergic effects of diphenhydramine. It's easy to see where the confusion could happen.

SWIM agrees whole-heartedly. After SWIM had a dangerously high-dosage of Diphenhydramine (around 1 gram, 1050mg) he began to have panic attacks for about a year afterwards, and has lost feeling in his skin around alot his body. SWIM can feel heat, movement, and pressure applied to his bones, but cannot feel pressure applied to his skin.

So SWIM has one word of wisdom regarding the high-dosage recreational use of Diphenhydramine, "Don't."
