Drug info - MDMA A by product of Rocket Fuel?

SWIM was watching the discovery channel not too long ago and remembers the lettters MDMA being mentioned quite a few times, stating that its a by product of Rocket fuel, and they even had a little part on how they destroy it.

SWIM is certain the letters MDMA were used but is this a different MDMA than the drug?

I'm decently familiar with rocketry and I've never, ever heard of anything like this. I can't even think of any way in which it would occur.

I think it's far more likely that:

1) MDMA stands for something else rather boring.
2) You incorrectly recalled the abbreviation. Any way you can check what you were referring to online to give us some context?

Fact:

MDP2P is reduced using nitromethane (rocket fuel) during the process of mdma manufacture. See MDMA chemistry forum for more information.

Nitromethane isn't really used much since hydrazine works so well (making a green comeback though)... but regardless, you're describing it's use as a reducing agent. No MDMA or MDP2P would result from nitromethane alone.

Perhaps there was a quotation about how nitromethane may be used in the manufacture of MDMA?

This show was more about rockets than drugs, which is why he had such a hard time believing his ears when they said MDMA, he listened more closely and yup they said MDMA a few more times, then said something about how they destroy it.

SWIM wishes he would of watched more of the show.

Can't remember, SWIMS dad was watching it, swim came into the room for a little visiting time and this is when he heard MDMA and tuned in, they stopped talking about MDMA, so swim left.

It must have been an acronym for something else, MDMA is a rather complex molecule relative to the usually much simpler compounds used as fuels, so its hardly going to by a reaction by-product or anything like that. I just don't understand how MDMA would be present in rocket fuel at all..
