Dose - feedback on dosage

SWIM, who hasn't built up any tolerance, will buy a gram of Heroin (about 80% pure) and figures he'll get about 80 doses out of it. He's asking feedback on this assumption.

I'm suspecting a lot of people will write back and say you are too high in your estimate and won't get that much out of it.

However, Swie (who has always been extremely lucky and had a very low tolerance, even after months of use) would have got 100 doses out of it or more when her tolerance was at its lowest. If shooting it that is. Snorting would probably only have given her 80 doses if there were two week breaks between each time.

Don't forget that 80 doses at Swiy's current tolerance won't really be 80 doses if Swiy uses regularly, as tolerance will go up.

Anway, as I said, Swie is probably not your best example as she has always been extremely sensitive to opiates. I'm interested to hear other people's opinions.

In the U.S., a bundle (ten bags) is a gram, though SWIM believes that a bundle never weighs out to that much. Even when SWIM's tolerance was low, he could use a bag for two hits. So that would be twenty doses per bundle. Assuming that dealers here in the U.S. screw you a bit on actual weights, maybe SWIY could get double that. But 80 seems way off unless SWIY has incredible self control and is able to occasionally take a sniff and walk away satisfied. BTW, SWIM shoots, so that might influence why he gets fewer doses out of a gram. Heck, a gram now would give SWIM a handful of doses.

To begin with, ones method of use is an important variable in this equation. More heroin would be required by insulfation as opposed to IV route to reach the same effect. The average starting dose of pure heroin for most IV users with little or no tolerance is between 5mg-10mg and 5mg-20mg if insulfated. So, assuming that use would be limited to once a day and tolerance never became a factor, then 80 doses from 1 gram of 80% heroin is a fair but frugal estimate.

Page 20 states that the mean daily dose of heroin IV ( when used alone, without methadone on the side) was 491.7mg.

Page 22 states "A stable dose was achieved after 6 months at most; beyond this point, almost no further increases in dose were required."

Later in the volume, the authors state that most users tend to gradually reduce their dosages after achieving a peak.

I know Swiy is probably disappointed, but it does reassure me whenever I hear of dealers having at least this much integrety. Swie knows a guy like this - in fact he even tries to get Swie off it.

I really hope Swiy sees this as the lucky escape it is, and throws himself wholeheartely into the things that really matter and are worth doing in life. Leave this shit behind and LIVE! You only get one chance.
